Is there any difference in the rate of decomposition?
-
i highly doubt that their would be any difference in the rate of decomposition, considering all forms of DNA is almost completely universal, and the phosphodisester bonds present in most DNA forms is equal in strength. Thus, decomposition of DNA vs mtDNA, given that all variables are constant, would be identical.
I highly doubt we would need to noe this for the mid years, cause it is a bit in depth. Just noe the difference between mtDNA (present in mitochondria, involved in protein sythesis in mitochondria; ie cytochromes etc) and DNA, and just understand the theory of endosymbiosis. That should be enough i reckon :D
Hope this helped
