... I left a note at the end of my GAT thanking the examiner for marking my paper? Could I get into trouble or anything? :P

No, it's the fucking GAT...there's been worse things happenning than that =.=

lol

OK good. I want to do a few crazy things on my paper, while still trying to complete it with a semi-serious approach. ^^
-
Do multiple choice seriously, joke around with the essays

The new generation of AN is super-rebellious it seems :P

Yes, I am a goody-two-shoes. :P Mainly because the few times I do something wrong I get caught. :@

No, you're just not a badass.
If you were a badass, you would know how to not get caught.
You get caught because you're not a badass, and not a sickcunt.
That's all
-
Umm... that's sorta what I said? :S lol
-
No, you said you're not a badass because when you do wrong things you get caught.
I said you get caught when you do wrong things because you're not a badass.
If A then B and If B then A are two logically different statements which do not imply eachother. This is actually a logical flaw known as "affirming the consequent"

Disregard Paul. He didn't have his morning coffee and he's very cranky. He probably doesn't even know what he's saying. Just let him rant on about his youth and smile politely.

Hahahahah, yeah, this is what happens when I have an exam in 3 days and I've been going to sleep at 4AM every morning
P.S. MED1011 kids - Using Craig Hassed's meditation thing actually works, when I'm tired, just put that on, do it for 5 minutes and you feel heaps better, do the 20 minute one and it feels like you've just had a nap and shower! :D

Should do that myself.

I sorta sense some tension here, and it all started with writing about the gat? really?

Would we lose marks if we left the exam blank with a $50 note inside it?

You'd lose money.

They should give me money for spending 3 hours of my life that I will never get back on a pointless test, not the other way around. :P

what would happen if i circled all the multiple choice? i know i'd feel like a badass, but what would the consequences be?

Just do NOT do it on the English exam.
One person wrote a magnificent essay and the examiner was about to give about 9-10/10. Then he/she saw the comment on the bottom:
"Hey Examiner, I've finished VCE, now I'm off to schoolies!"
The examiner was confused and asked the Chief Examiner how to deal with this.
The Chief Examiner's ruling: that essay was given a 0.
-
How could they have finished VCE if English is the first exam ???
-

Think they meant that they've finished VCE english or something. I can't remember exactly what they said.
-
I'm scared now. ._.
-
I'm scared now. ._.
How so? ???
-
How could it have been given 0 if it was such a good essay? Might lose a mark or something because the comment is irrelevant, but I don't think it would get 0.
-

Just don't do anything stupid haha.

I did it in my trial GAT and my teacher told me the same story. I thought she made it up. :S

You do realise that the written part of the GAT can effect you in absolutely no way this year, right?
-
Well that's news to me - I thought they used all of the GAT to derive one's score, even if certain questions were unrelated to the subject (otherwise how would they use it for subjects like Food Technology, for example?).
-
If they take your best GAT score to use in year 12 (not sure if they do) it might have an effect?
-

Yes, it's divided into 3 sections though:
Written (used for english and stuff)
Maths and science (self-evident - effects you)
Humanities (everything else + psych should be in there too imo)
For example, they're not going to use you essay scores when giving you a derived score for Spesh... Nor will they use your maths and science results for Studio Arts
-
Ah, thanks for that. Time to have some fun in the English sections then, I think. :D

Alright badass!

Reading this thread, I'm wondering if my mini mental rebellion during my English exam last year nearly got me into a whole heap of trouble.
I basically wrote the following at the end of my Context piece last year, (studying Identity and Belonging, topic being "Without others, there is no me", or something like that). It comes after three pages of general waffling on how one can be influenced by others.
"However, I've come to realise that the people around me matter more than any exam result. So give me whatever mark your rubric dictates; I'll just buy a Statement of Marks and view it later. However, I do not care very much, as I am writing this in gratitude of the people I value, and without them, there is no me.
Yours sincerely,
<name and student number>."
As it so happens, I ended up receiving 16/20 for that effort, though how close that was to being 0/20, I'm not sure.
-
Somewhat relevant to the topic I guess
-
Someone at my school in year 11 final exam wrote their entire exam mirrored. Needless to say they got a 0. :P
-
In the GAT if you capture the examiner's attention you will be rewarded. As long as it isn't something stupid or insulting, that is. I mean the examiners have to read pages and pages of complete garbage (and let's face it, the GAT is essentially an invitation to be creative these days) so anything that helps you stand out is beneficial.
But don't mock them during a 3/4 exam. During my legal exam I knew I was stuffed due to no preparation (aside from securing #1-2 sac rank in a strong cohort - I knew that would at least get me over 30) and I was so tempted to troll the examiners with some real witty comments. Luckily I controlled myself and barely finished the paper (thought I was going to get a C - only wrote 5-6 lines on the major questions) yet somehow I scored a B and 36 SS.
I've heard of other people writing "come at me bro" on every second page along with "y u mad tho?". Let's just say it didn't end too well for them, despite how good they claimed their papers to be.
-
Also, I was wondering how we find out our result for the GAT.

End of the year in the mail, when you get your statement of results (the fancy piece of paper with your study scores and what subjects you've done etc.)

technically it could.. For example with me.. I got 40 on the written section of the GAT. For my exam I scored 0.5 marks less than my friend who got 46 for English (i got 43. Mostly due to epic fail sacs :P)
SOO if i had of gotten around 45-46 on the GAT for the written section my SS COULD have been marked up a little more
-
I still find it funny that you absolutely demolished me on the Exam (I got an A) and you got one study score higher than me, on that same page, you also beat me on the written part of the GAT :P

yeah but I also had a certain really bad english teacher who gave me horrible sac marks.. You on the otherhand aced all the sacs.
How'd you like my 50 for Mathematics/Technology on the GAT :P
-

Meh, funky owned all you guys :P
I did much better than last year:
Written: 49 (37/40)
M/S/T: 50 (35/35)
H/A/SS: 50 (33/35).

She should consider tutoring the GAT, probably one of the best scores in the state :P just putting it out there! :P
I think I got in the 30s for Written, hahahah, but I mentioned Bear Grylls or George Clooney or whoever it was last year, so that might be why.
-
Just curious, was there anyone who got 50 for all three sections of the GAT?

I think the question was 50 scaled SS, not 50%... :P

I'm getting a Derived Exam Score for my Chemistry Mid-Year... Would they look at my GAT from last year.....?

The GAT is the day after my Chemistry exam. I'll be sitting both although I don't think I'll do very well in either. If they look at my GAT from last year I'll get a predicted F.
-

Why would he get an exemption from taking the GAT? Don't think they will look at results from previous year because you already know what you received so people could play the system. Don't worry, just results this year and your SAC's count towards derived score.
-
I was thinking that if you were sick and missed it, then they may look at last year's GAT kevinooBz.
-
I was wondering, since when you repeat a subject they take whichever score was best, is it the same for GAT? Or do they only look at the results you get for it this year?
-

Fair enough. I was wondering, since when you repeat a subject they take whichever score was best, is it the same for GAT? Or do they only look at the results you get for it this year?
They take the most recent GAT result.
