In case one breaks down
?
-
No, that's against VCAA regulations.
-
Won't be able to bring in a screwdriver to replace your batteries because it can be "used as a weapon".
Just replace your batteries the day before the exam and pray to God that they don't run out

Very prepared individual!
You can't, I've tried!
-
I'm sure someone has had it happen to them before :\
what happens if it does happen?

You hope that you remember how to multiply and divide decimals by hand :P
Seriously, if you're concerned, buy a new calc that definitely won't run out. It hasn't happened to anyone by my knowledge though, and some people were using calcs from yr7.
-
Think vcaa would b a tad more reasonable, they would have had sth planned if sb's calc broke down - this is thushan btw
-
dont worry about petty things which aren't in your control
batteries in scientific calcs run for like 20 years
ive never heard of a person who's scientific calc's batteries have run out,
dw about it
replace the batteries a few days (not 1 day before) if u absolutely must

Thushan? ...ok why do you have two accounts lol?
They don't have to, VCAA doesn't have to do anything, if your calc breaks down, that's entirely your fault for lack of preparation. I know someone who had their pen die and they had to have a 5 minute discussion with the examiners just to get a new one (they had to call VCAA head office first).
-
But if i could prepare well i would bring in 2 calcs D:
it's not thushan looking over his / her previous posts (buying stuff etc.)
-
Exam's on tues, probs just won't change them lol
-
sometimes, well at my school im pretty sure, they had a table at the front with a box of spare batteries and some spare calcs our school supplied in case someone in methods spec or further had their CAS go flat.
So hopefully in physics/chem, they do the same by having a bunch of spare calcs!
-
Nah only allowed one - like others said change your batteries nowish, too make sure its unlikely to run out!
I'm pretty sure the vcaa people have spare calculators. Last year in my methods exam my calculator started screwing up, and I asked and surprisingly they had a few at the front
Goodluck :)

Get on of those solar powered scientific calculators and sit next to a window. Problem solved.
So long as it's not a cloudy day and there is in fact a seat near a window and the sun just so happens to shine through the window during the time of your exam.

I believe its Thushan using his student's account with his student's permission, lol
Also, I know someone who owns a TI-XB and while he changed the batteries, the screen sort of disconnected from the hardware, and sometimes, nothing appears on the screen until you knock the calculator a couple of times. So yeah, take care while doing that; and change it a few days before, not the day before.
Ahh mine does exactly that! sometimes i have to just hit it really hard to get it to work, lets hope it doesnt happen in the exam tomorrow...
-
if your really worried, i guess you could bring 2 in and give one to the teacher before the exam telling them this is just in case my other one ruins out or something
-
As long as they're both scientific there shouldn't be any problems. But I did that for one of my exams last year and there was hardly any room on the table (idk about you guys but we had the smallest tables you could imagine).
