Title: Meiosis trouble
Post by: Jamesy_112 on June 19, 2012, 08:29:17 pm
Heyy,

I don't quiet understand the process of meiosis, for example the differences with prophase I and     prophase II and anaphase I and anaphase II, does the process of prophase I and prophase II occur straight after on other or does it go prophase I anaphase I metaphase etc then prophase II anaphase II, what do the second stages of prohase and anaphase etc actually do?

thank you

I recommend you watch a McGraw Hill animation: http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0072495855/student_view0/chapter3/animation__how_meiosis_works.html

it's all the ones first and then the twos

so prophase I, metaphase I...etc. then prophase II...etc.

In the first cycle, initial cell will split into two diploid cells, second division each diploid cell will now split into two haploid cells

One more question :),,

i dont quiet get cell respiration and steps involved, like the krebs cycle?, what does the krebs cycle actually do?

Kreb cycle (Citric Acid Cycle/TCA Cycle) will take pyruvate, convert it to Acetyl-CoA and use the energy in it to load the electron carriers (NAD+ -> NADH and FAD -> FADH2)
