Hey everyone, I am currently considering breadth subjects for semester 2. Any suggestions or recommendations for easy breadth subjects to take next semester?
Thanks :)
-
What course are you doing? :) And I am literally (okay well not literally) ripping my hair out trying to find a good breadth subject :( Sometimes I wish I could just choose something within Arts itself!
-
Anything in arts is pretty good, because exams are worth less and there are usually less lectures to cover, for example I only had 24 lectures for one subject this year vs 34 lectures for my other subjects.

Has anyone done Law in Society (SOLS10001) before?
The review here: http://union.unimelb.edu.au/countercourse/law-in-society-sols10001 rated it 10/10.
Is it any good?

Does anyone think it's ok to jump into the language breadths? Like right now the language 1 are out, and the 2,4 etc. are in. (This is assuming I haven't done language 1).

Probably won't be able to, but ask the coordinator of the subject :)

I'm going to do spanish 1 next year sem 1.

You need to do a placement test I believe.

are you serious! what subject was that? Although I don't think i'll ever do an arts subject as breadth...

Nah, I reckon Metric and Hilbert Spaces or Complex Analysis.
Or if they let you, Introduction to String Theory.
But my perception of "easy breadth" could be horrendously and vastly different from yours.

Definitely take LING20006: Syntax if you like LING. It is pretty bludgy. The assignments can be a little challenging, but you'll nut them out eventually. I got a 97 with minimal study and just spent time on the assignments and take home exam.
Any word on LING10002: Intercultural Communication people? I don't really like writing essays, but do enjoy LING a fair bit...
I can't bring myself to take 4 science subjects this semester, but nor can I bring myself to do choir haha. :p
But seriously, if you want a bludgy pass/fail breadth with no exam, MUSI10162 is the way to go. All you have to do is a 2 hour group rehearsal each week, 3 online quizzes and an end of semester performance. Check it out...

Shit part is with pass/fail subjects, the rest of your subjects end up counting for more...

After doing Japanese in semester 1, I'm strongly opposed to doing a language for anyone enrolled in a science degree. It eats up all your time and I personally found the subject I did quite boring and didn't particularly like the tutor which was no help.

Brother told me this. However I am still going to do spanish 1 next year :P

it can only be done as a level 1 breadth for science students.. :(

Reading the pdf that was linked in the handbook:
"Please note there is not a lot of parking around the campus – and you shouldn’t be driving anyway, as you will be tasting wine......As most of you would be on P plates, you should not drive at all."

Study something like Linguitics or Syntax, they seem to be pretty interesting.
