Has anyone trying to switch courses received offers yet?
Two rounds have already passed but I still haven't received a single one.
I'm trying to switch from science to commerce, and am getting kinda worried.
Could it be that all our results have not been published yet? There are two more rounds left.. But yeah.. :(
-
UoM only participates in Round 2 (29 June or today) and Round 4 (13 July). So Round 2 is for people who deferred right after year 12 and only have year 12 results available and Round 4 is for other candidates.
-
Ahh thank you..
Do you think I have a reasonable shot in round 4 then? Or are spaces going to be very limited? Given my past atar and decent first sem grades?
I really need this transfer lmaoo..
-
Well you finished year 12 last year I believe and you've definitely achieved higher than the Clearly-In. Additionally, you've only done one semester of uni, so you should be given the green light.
-
I applied to transfer from Postgraduate Diploma of Science (Mathematics) to Master of Science (Mathematics) and got a conditional offer (need to pass every subject and have a 65 average among my best 4 Maths subjects - excluding Systems Modelling and Simulation). So far I got 74 for Transforms, 65 for Graph Theory, currently sitting on a 60 for Numerical and Symbolic Maths (waiting for my final mark) and I'll have use a 59 from one of my maths subjects last year. Fingers crossed that I get the mark I need in Numerical and Symbolic Maths to transfer.

I am now officially a masters student.

You are a bloody genius. Now, party in the Masters room lol
-
My friend averaged 73 for his Sem 1 Uni results and got into BSc at UoM. He was also under the clearly-in ATAR as I was, maybe 1 mark higher than me, ATAR wise
My average of 85 doesn't get in.
Is that it?

That's weird, i would've thought you would get in and not him...
Maybe because it was mid-sem transfer they focused more on ATAR then uni results? I don't know much about transferring so i'm just guessing lol
Try again at the end of next sem you should get in with those results
-
yay, got the offer. :D
I guess I'm pretty lucky considering that my ATAR was 19 lower than the 2012 clearly-in.......

nah, commerce.

attained higher ATAR than the clearly in, averaged 83 for sem 1 and met all the prereqs, yet no offer for commerce.
fuck melbourne uni.

Did you check your email though? It didn't show the offer on VTAC, but it did show it in my email. dw, i found it on VTAC on the second tab.>.<
That would be weird considering that I didn't get that much higher; 84 in 2011 (with SEAS) and 86 in 2012 sem1.
I actually did my VCE back in 2010 so I've actually completed 1.5 years of Uni studies, but still, my ATAR was way lower than yours.

You're allowed to appeal the decision if that's the case because you have a leg to stand on here.
-
I think it's because you didn't do the prerequisite subjects (looking at your sig) required for commerce at Melbourne. On the website it says:
Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 25 in English/English Language/Literature or at least 30 in ESL, and at least 25 in Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics.
Yeah, but she completed MAST10012 Introduction to Mathematics, which is the equivalent to Methods 3+4 in semester 1. She passed that so she would have satisfied the Methods pre-requisite.
Hence, I think she should appeal the decision.
-
^ oohh okay, then i'll just delete my post since it is irrelevant

Maybe it's because he hasn't completed maths methods 3/4 as it is prerequisite for commerce?

Are you dyslexic?
-
Hey Mr Internet Tough Guy, tone it down or I'll ban you
-
Hey, Ninwa. Do you give good gobbies?
-
The reason why I couldn't get into commerce in the first place was because I didn't do methods 3/4 but I passed the equivalent at uni in semester one hence meeting all prerequisites, what Gloamglozer said. :)
I rang the uni up, clarifying on what basis I didn't get an offer when I knew so many people with lower ATARs and WAMs did and they informed me that my uni results weren't recorded in my VTAC profile. They're going to investigate and get back to me on Monday.
Lovely fuck up there.
Hopefully everything will get sorted out soon and it's not too late to get into commerce by next sem.

If their fuck up is going to cost you a semester you should go in there and rage so hard. They have they shittiest admin ever. Barely anyone has a clue what is going on. The knob who processed your application should have contacted you to let you know that they didn't have any uni results registered so that you could have it fixed up in time...BUT NO, it is just easier for them to not give a stuff, ignore it and reject your application than to actually do the right thing and try to fix it.
-
P funny that melb uni requires vtac to provide them with your uni when they had probably just given them a week earlier.
-
Update: I was lucky enough to receive an offer.
Hope everything works out for you guys too!
Side question:
Does anyone know the likelihood of being able to transfer credit in physics 1 and calculus 2 as breadth from science to commerce?

100% able to.
-
Plan-B surely your ATAR would have got you into UoM Sci during VTAC applications :O

And it did?

Oops, I thought he/she transferred there now, my bad :)

And yeah, i applied for science in january but decided to switch to commerce in second semester. :P

Hey @xdecay, did they get back to you??
-
Hey @xdecay, did they get back to you??
One of the admissions officer told me that were on a few other cases (meaning I was probably not the only one they fucked, urgh) but they eventually got back to me on Wednesday. I got emailed the offer directly from the uni and finally sorted out my semester 2 timetable. After waiting around anxiously for a few days, I'm glad I'm finally a commerce student. :)
-
Still don't know what subjects I'm doing... they're still assessing my credits and I need them as prerequisite...
They told me to attend all potential subjects that I might enroll into so I'm attending like 7 lectures for 7 usbjects nxt week. T^T But hopefully they're done with the credit before I attend most of the lectures..
-
Don't count on in buddy, took them until week 3 for them to give me my credits.....
Now that Uni has started, the subject co-ordinators will be extra busy as well. =|

How will you know that your credits have been transferred besides some email confirmation, etc.? Will it show on our study plan or something as subjects?

yah, they enrol the credited subjects in ur study plan.
-
If youve listed your mobile, the credit/transfer person will give you a call. Otherwise keep bugging her with emails. Also check your uni email regularly, updates'll be in there. Why notdo some breadths now? MOst require prerequisites, and you can knock off 2,3 this sem instead pf waiting for credits that might not be given.

I submited my form on Wednesday and got replied on the following Monday.
Since I got credited for ARA and ATA, I enrolled into Intermediate Financial Accounting this sem which I heard it's really hard..
