I've read my text (A Farewell to arms) three times and have highlighted quotes and inserted tabs with short summaries of the chapters, but wondering what else i could do during future readings?
Open to any suggestions and ideas. Thanks :)

For future readings:
- Remember highlighted quotes exactly for SACs and exam. You can arrange the quotes following the themes or characters as well. It will help you a lot when writing essay. You dont have to waste time to re-read the whole text and the quote bank can direct you as a guide
- Read summaries again, skim some main ideas then close the book and write down what you can remember or outline the main events of the text
- When you write the essay, select the most suitable quotes from the text you highlighted for the question and learn how to analyse it via further readings from study guide + your own ideas. You can read explanation from study guide but DONT COPY it because your teacher and examiners already read heaps of those so they can easily recognise it. To write an effective essay, you need to come up with your own ideas. What do you think about it? How does it reveal to the characters. How does it relate to the themes you analyse? Afterthat, write it down next to the quotes or your notebook, whatever,...
- You can also expand the understanding about the text by comparing/contrasting the quotes and scenes to enhance the difference at the beginning and the end of the story. I dont study "A Farewell to arms" so dont know what its about ==
Its just the way I did for text response. Hope this helps you somehow.
