Title: Conflict prompt real life/historical examples help?

'Conflict is often resolved by further conflict.'

I was thinking of writing about the following points:

• Conflict can be resolved or overcome by further conflict - that is, provoking other internal or external conflict can be a catalyst for the resolution or dissipation of conflict.
• Further conflict can serve only to fuel and perpetuate the existing conflict.
• It is often the case that, when sufficiently entrenched in pre-existing conflict, further conflict has insignificant effects or consequences for those involved.

Any criticism or help with any of those points would be appreciated.

More importantly... Could anyone suggest any real life/historical examples that effectively demonstrate or exemplify any of these points?
Also, any examples from 'Paradise Road' or 'The Crucible' would be appreciated but aren't as vital.
