My dear friends,
Today, we received our mid-year examination results. Many of us are quite content with our results and have reaped the benefit of our hard-work, many of us are a little disappointed as we may have been expecting just a little bit more, and some of us are probably downright disappointed with ourselves. I know I fit the last category.
However, the fact of the matter is that these results do not define us. They do not define our future. They define a past version of us at a particular point in time.
For this reason, I implore all of you not to worry or dwell on these results for too long. Unit 4 exams are approaching us rapidly and if you have done well, this is another opportunity to uphold your performance, and if you haven’t done as well as you would have liked, this is an opportunity for you to redeem yourself.
There also always alternate ways of getting into university courses whether it be Medicine, Law, Commerce, Engineering, Environmental studies or Arts.
Let us overcome our ambivalent feelings pertaining to this day, and move forward with our eyes set on the bigger picture, the Unit 4 exams.
Why bother wasting much needed time and energy worrying and being upset about something that nothing will ever change?
Just my two cents.
I wish you all the best of luck in your subsequent studes.
Over and out,
Surgeon.

I never thought I would see the day that someone was thumbed up on ATAR Notes for pointing out a very minor grammatical error that was rectified.........

That wasn't the reason why they gave that post the thumbs up.

Would you be so kind as to tell me why they did?

I think you'll grow more as a person when you figure it out on your own.
