Title: Getting a 50 in Methods?
Post by: Thisusernamealreadyexistsalreadyexists on August 22, 2012, 05:25:16 pm
Just had my second last SAC on Monday, did okay except for a few careless marks lost. My SAC's this year have been pretty good, and presuming I go alright in the final one, I'm hoping to rank at least around 10 to 15 of about 120 in a strong cohort.

Hypothetically, if I get 100% on both exams (obviously only a slim chance), is a 50 still possible, or are my SAC results not good enough? If not, what can I expect?

Thanks!

There should be a sticky saying that if you 100% your exams, a 50 should be in expected. (unless it was spesh)

What if I had a bottom sac ranking and I managed to get at least an A+ on the Exam
I still wouldnt get a 50 right nor a 40 right?

It depends on your school. If you're bottom rank, and your school has a real slacker who gets E's for his exams, then unfortunately your grades would be E A+ A+.. which wouldnt get over 40..

Alternatively, if you were at a really good school and the lowest exam score was B, then B, A+, A+. which may (very slim chance) get over 40.. depending on those A+'s..

In regards to OP, it should be possible, I was rank 2 in a cohort that wasn't particularly strong and I got 100% on both exams. The guy who was rank 1 got 48. Considering that (I think) you don't necessarily need to get 100% on both exams to get a 50 with a high SAC mark, it should be reasonable for you to get 50 with full marks on the exams. But obviously that's a separate issue. =P
