Title: HUMAN RESOURCE HELP!
Post by: FHCrep on August 28, 2012, 07:40:34 pm
It says that human resource managers are referred to as staff managers when they offer advice and make decisions about policies practises and procedures. It also says they may also assist functional managers.

The definition of a staff manager is a manager who provides specialist assistance to functional managers, and the definition of a functional manager is a manager responsible for just one organisational activity e.g. finance or human.

I’m really confused about this paragraph in my text. Wouldn’t a human resource manager be a functional manager because they are responsible for JUST the human resources function? Also are staff managers only managers who provide assistance? Could someone explain what are HR managers referred to as, maybe with an example?
