why is it that the discovery of new hominin fossils and species may cause confusion, and not necessarily clarify issues?

why is it that the discovery of new hominin fossils and species may cause confusion, and not necessarily clarify issues?

Because the discovery of new hominin fossils can cause confusion to the order of the family tree

For example, some fossils are a mixture of primitive and advanced anatomy, so its difficult to decide whether this is a new species of hominid, ancestors or relating humans.
