Title: Active or passive?

I have a text-response SAC on Shakespeare. (Henry IV, Part 1)
Should the expository essay be written in active or passive form?

It doesn't particularly matter, however the current trend is to use an active form. This usually lends itself to more engaging writing.

^ I concur. You generally want to use the active but you will probably need to use the passive sometimes where appropriate.

It really depends on context, I recommend looking at some grammar websites, eg http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/active-voice-versus-passive-voice.aspx
