So guys I had a day off work on Friday and decided to give Monash a tour. As soon as I got there I made my way to the law building and I was extremely surprised by how bad it looked aesthetically.
It just seemed so old and dead inside, and to be honest I was expecting it to be a lot better considering the reputation of the law program at Monash.
Am I the only one who was very surprised by the building ?
Are all the classes held in the building ?
-
^.^ Come check out Melb Uni's law bldg. =D
-
LOL, yeah the Menzies looks crap haha, mainly because it was designed by a UoM student though :(
-
Should've gone to specsavers.
-
Is there more than one law building ? I was in the one with the Library. (Not sure if that narrows it down)
Ah ok, that's not the Menzies then, my bad.
-
pi, Menzies is the Arts/Commerce/Education building, not the Law building, the law building is the one opposite the bus stop (you've been in the Law Library right? :\)
Anyway, who cares about how the building looks? It's not like you're gonna be there appreciating the buildings every day. The general feeling wears off after a few weeks.

^Haha, I know, my mistake :P
I like the law library, they have nice couches.
-
Yeah they do, and btw, Menzies looks shit from the outside, but inside it's actually really nice :P
-
Hey at least the buildings don't look like old jails *cough* la trobe uni *cough*

Actually, I researched that rumour. It's not true. I still like to blame UoM though.

That's because it's just been rennovated. It was terrible before that.

^^
The high value Monash students place on evidence <3
*runs*

In my 4 years of law so far I've only had one law lecture and 2 law tutes in the law building. God knows wtf they actually do with those rooms
Most law classes are in the Menzies, which is ugly on the outside but the inside is renovated and looks half decent now (also watching people get stuck in the revolving doors is quality free entertainment)
And if you're super lucky you get to walk across to the other side of campus and have classes in the science/engineering buildings, yay

My Jap classes are in law building this semester.
I forget what unit it was, but I had the tutes for one of my BusEco units in there too.
Arts Students: Occupying the Law Building since before Wall Street, bitches.

Best place to study alone is in level 4 of the law lib, the tables are so big and its so quiet :) (the matheson is terrible in comparison)
-
^Sif study alone? But anyway, if I had to study alone, I prefer to study in John Medley library. I can always quit studying, grab a fiction book and start ready. Plus it's generally pretty quiet.
-
The best place to study is in Hargrave, on the second floor, where Paulsterio hangs out :P
-
Or you could be like the cool kids and just not study.

I will ensure that you get no study done ;P

I barely have any classes in the law building... I don't actually have a single class in there this semester...
You get over how the buildings look pretty quickly (plus I came from a high school where one classroom was a refurbished bathroom so coming form that anything was an improvement).
Also Monash is apparently flat broke so don't expect too many changes soon. My personal favourite DIY is hanging that banner outside the law building to cover up the fugly plaster boards covering up the old exit :P

I tried to imagine this in my head. I failed. Wtf.

The room had been renovated quite heavily, but it still had left over piping coming out of the walls. Imagine a really rubbish classroom with holes in the wall =[
Thankfully the school has since been re-developed substantially thanks to some govt grants (annoying the renovations all happened right after I graduated...)

Yea, Menzies is really nice inside, went to the top one day with a friend, beautiful view up there, think you can see the bay.

Top floor or like something on/near the roof?
Where is the law library... i've almost been here 2 years and i still don't know where it is. The top floor of the matheson is pretty quite too but really cramped.

LOL dude it's right next to the Menzies, you probably walked past it to get to the Menzie
