Out of curiosity, does anyone here type with one hand? :D
-
OH MY GOD. We are now best friends. Whenever I type its my right hand that does all the typing and the left just does the occasional caps lock. I have a horrible balance of hand coordination. :P
-
How fast can you type with just one hand, wouldn't it take ages to type out anything? :o

I'm not alone!! RIGHT HAND TYPING BUDDIES FTW! 8)
@ laseredd: I'm actually fairly fast with one hand, slow with two.

I only know of typing this way, and I've been doing it since I was in Year 5, so idk, I'm well practised.
Its slower when I incorporate my left hand because then I actually have to think, "left hand r key"...
-
interesting,
hahha
i dont get how you can type with one hand tho and be fast !!
I've pretty much learnt the keyboard inside out, back in yr 6 to about yr 9 when I used to play games I would type fericousily ahah, so now i just type like a gamer.

Post results please. No cheating. I'm genuinely curious.

48 WPM with one hand.
20 WPM with both hands.
-
I got 50 WPM with mostly right hand movement.
-
70 WPM with two hands. Also note that I haven't slept in 24 hours :P
30 WPM with my left and then with my right hands individually. How do you people do it?

Using both hands :D
-
88 words both hands, 29 words one hand...
-
So I got 27 wpm when I did it first, but then I did a different topic and got 52wpm.
Yeah idk.
-
90 words per minute Paul that is crazy! :o

Yeah, it varies quite a fair bit - think about it this way - if you're typing a lot of long words, you're naturally going to hit a lower WPM, that's why I think characters/min is a much better measure.

I know that personally, I used to be a bit faster than I am now - I used to be able to hit 97 wpm on good keyboards, and my goal has always been to hit 100 wpm, but I reckon biomechanically I can't actually move my fingers much faster, but yeah, it's a product of learning how to touch type properly and just typing a lot!
-
It still counts errors even if you fix them which is really irritating :(
I got 112 -> 103
inb4 nina posts something stupid like 130wpm :(

Wait so you don't use the shift key for capital letters?
-
Got 124 a couple of weeks ago :D
Never been able to replicate it though..
-
I type with one hand if i'm being lazy.
-
I never learnt the home-row touch typing method - instead, I've just become familiar where each of the letters are from online social networking. Not surprisingly, my result was 48wpm because I'm a very sloppy typer. :P
-
I type with one hand at least once a day

Oh lord...
-
I got 118 WPM with 3 errors, so 115 WPM.
But I'm tired :P.
-
Offtopic, but what are people's typical WPMs?
If I'm on a familiar, laptop-style chiclet keyboard that I've used for a week, then I would easily bust out ~100wpm avg, even 80wpm+ with hard formatting, apostrophes galore, etc.
Does anybody have any connections to data entry jobs? They pay well and I'm pretty apt with my typing - I think there's the potential to make a lot of money there. It just sucks because they're hard to come by as you often need to work as a receptionist as well. All I want to do is transcription.
This is a serious request if anyone has connections - I'd love to do this passively for income.
Edit: Should have read the whole thread. Will test WPM now and post back results.
126wpm with 8 errors to make 118wpm with 93% accuracy.
