Post any discussion about today's exam here :D
-
The first 2 questions for France were exactly like practice ones I had done :) I was happy with those! Blanked on the Vendee Rebellion for 10 minutes so I had to come back to it! In my textbook that event takes up 2/300 pages!! It annoys me when they do that! I was hoping for the Civil Constitution of the Clergy or the Champ de Mars incident :/ But I think I still think I answered it well.
I enjoyed the China section more than I thought. Essay question was very straightforward :)
Overall I think I think pretty well :D

If someone could post up the exam on this post so everyone on AN can see would be very appreciated :)

I really like France questions but blanked out on entire of French so I couldn't do those questions. I would of liked someone than the Vendee Rebellion but the document was good to answer though :D. I really liked this year exam :D

I'm feeling pretty good.
The extended responses were classic, and I've actually done 2 practice exams that used McPhee's extract on the Vendee rebellion - while I didn't remember what I had previously answered, it was nice to have a sense of familiarity. Didn't particularly like the Russia essay topic but it's not like it was terrible. The Russia graphic was okay, although I would have preferred it to ask us more specifically about what exactly caused the October revolution. While I didn't love all of the questions I think I'm happy with how I went.
So glad it's over, but I am going to miss Revs!
That great, i'm really glad you are!. Wow that's a bonus for you. Russia seem really difficult to me on section B. Yeah I guess this will be the year where all the questions were good but at least you like a majority of it. I am not happy at all with how I went but I certainly deserved to do crap

Oh I definitely found Russia difficult, you're not alone. I wasn't too fond of the graphic - uhm, what that thing in the background a robot? I was trying to figure out if it was perhaps the cruiser Aurora and I'm just like WHAT?!

[/quote]Russia grahic was really bad I didn't like at all LIKE what the hell is this???, I seriously didn't even know that was a event :/
-
I'm okay with how I went. I can't bring myself to analyse each part or put a grade on my performance, but I'm so relieved its over! I finished, answered every question and chucked in some historiography and stats so hey.
-
Russia Section A was hard, I found it really difficult, but I brought it home with China Section B, thought I killed it, hoping for 65+
And for anyone that wasn't sure, that Russia graphic was on the October takeover on the Winter Palace, didn't like the graphic so I went with China, which was great.

You did the best you could and be proud of that and yes it's all over finally! :)

Russia was a really hard this year, I hope you do well with China! I'm glad that you felt you killed it so you would be expecting a 65+ :D

To clarify, that strange machine-life figure in the Winter Palace graphic in Russia Section B was a robot... VCAA used a remake of the original photo in which somebody had photoshopped in a robot. Obviously a mistake, but wow!
But even minus the robot, the graphic was difficult :/
-
Completely flunked Part A - Russia..... rambled with little detail :(
Part B China I felt really good about though - hopefully the examiners think so too!
What mark is roughly needed for a 32+?

I presume that everyone found Russia diffcult so don't beat yourself for it. That's good mate at least you did great on China :D. Hmmm I am taking a guess but B or B+ but if high 30's maybe High A and or low A+??

Oh definitely, I made no mention of it. And according to The Age no one who referred to it will be disadvantaged. :)

I did Russia part A and China part B too...
I dunno, I answered all the questions but my essay was pretty crap =/

I feel good! Did France section A and Russia section B, loved both really! Had just been reading about the Vendée earlier today :)
Russia source analysis was tough, even had trouble locating two groups. I came up with some bull about the Winter Palace and dead guard representing the Provisional Government ahah.. And the robot! Gave me a bit of a chuckle, haha!
-
Dat robot on the Russia grpahic LOL I didn't even notice it :/

Ah I sat there going, is that the aurora battleship? I'm pretty sure battleships don't look like that...
Luckily I didn't end up mentioning it!

Ohhh how awesome, we found a person who liked both sections :). That graphic was really difficult I couldn't even attempt that question

Hahahahaha that gave me a chuckle. Your mark will not be affected by this "robot" so don't worry about it http://www.theage.com.au/national/education/history-transformed-in-vce-exam-20121114-29ce7.html have a read of this article

I spent like 3 minutes trying to figure out what it was at the end :/

I didn't even realize that was a robot at first and I really didn't take into consideration really..
-
I wish I'd done this subject this year instead, just to see that robot haha. :P

China was exactly what i wouldn't it to be, i had historians lined up for that question. I think i killed the whole of section B
France wasn't as easy but it wasn't bad, could have been much worse
Overall I'm happy with that exam, i think it went well
Hope everyone else is confident as well :)
-
I dont even do revs but i really want to look at the exam can someone please put it up lol
-
I think i did fairly well overall, i did Russia sec a and China b.
First ER threw me off at first i was like what? Industrial workers? I left till the end then realised Soviets ah ha! And then it opened up so much to write so it was good! Question 2 very easy, all about Tsar lots to right.
China image was good, lots to talk about they gave us a huge period to talk about, so tons to write.
Essay probably my weakest part in the exam, but finished and was okay.
-

Does anyone think the setup of the China course is kind of weird? The first area of study is very long (1898-1949), yet there's only one question on the exam, which in the last three of four years has always been on 1934 and onwards (this is Section B). The early part of the course is really long and it never gets examined ^.^
-
Here's a photo of the exam, was fabulous, one could even call it revolutionary! Tsar funny....long long live comrade battle death marauder!
-
hey guys if I didn't signpost (firstly, secondly etc) in questions c) of the exam (ie the explain using your knowledge...) will that be used against me?
-

I doubt it. I think they prefer it that way, but as long as your points are clear and logical in themselves I'm sure it will be fine. I think I saw some examples that didn't use that method actually, that were marked well (IIRC).
-
I was never taught to signpost firstly secondly etc in the c) questions, only ever in the paragraph questions. Usually is fine chronologically.
-
ah k. I think I did it in more of a thematic approach... hopefully it will be okay?
-
Okay all done, excuse the scribble on russia and china, my quick planning haha.

Identify two features that indicate the storming of the winter palace did not take place easily - well, for a start they evidently had to manufacture a giant robot...
Nah uploading the exams is fine. Thanks for posting them.

but would it damage my response badly?

no, not at all. It really doesn't matter

phew. Thanks for the reassurance! Can't stand realising things that I forgot to do

No not at all

I thought it was a relatively straight-forward exam - France Part 1 was great and China Part 2 was stellar. However France part 2 was HARD (not that I did it, but those I know who did regretted it.)
Anyway, I was wondering if I don't refer to historians views as being 'marxist' or 'revisionist' in France is that still okay? I know it was such a dumb thing to do.
-

Really? I thought France section B was great! The visual wasn't too bad, and the essay prompt was really good :)

As long as you named the historians themselves I think you should be fine :)

I don't know, I thought the opposite? I thought the visual was hard, mostly because I'm an idiot and I couldn't identify during the exam who the second figure was (not the clergy dude.) Plus, I reckon France essays are always difficult because the whole revolution itself is insane.
