Title: Japanese exam: How did everyone go?
Post by: Fkt on November 19, 2012, 05:30:56 pm
Did anyone find it difficult, easy? Find any particular aspects of the exam hard?
Overall opinion on their score? :D

The listening was pretty straight forward. I'm just worried the markers are going to mark too harshly.
Eg. I wrote on Text 1, "He wants to join a game company and write scenarios for historical games" it might have been better to write "work for" rather than join haha.
Eg2. In one of the texts, it asks for two fun things done on Obon. She said dress in yukata and dance, and eat festival foods and watch fireworks.
I took what she said as four different things so one dot point was "people eat festival foods" and "people watch fireworks"
But it might have been better to write "wear yukata and dance" as one dot point and "eat festival foods and watch fireworks" as another dot point..

The reading was okay too. Both easy understandable topic. :)
And the conclusion questions didn't require much interpretation.

The essay was pretty good too. My teacher only teaches us advantages/disadvantages essays, so I did the high schoool students getting drivers licence topic.

otsukaresama!

@whatynot
If the question asked for two fun things done at Obon and four options were given (even though they were connected), I would say writing any two out of four of the things would be correct. I would highly doubt you would lose marks in that scenario.

With your first problem, if the verb was ゲーム会社に入る I would say join would be fine. But if it was ゲーム会社で働く (sorry to say) but a harsh marker might think 'work' might be more appropriate translation. Although, it would come down to their individual opinion.

I found it okay, but it wasn't until just now that I realised I wrote the wrong number for the essay topic.
I just wrote '1' because I did the first topic, forgetting that they usually assign them random numbers ughhhhh I kind of hate myself at the moment.

I did not do as well as I wanted to... the listening I found hard, the reading part was alright I think, the extended writing piece I feel I did well!
I kept missing little bits in the listening section...  :-\
頑張ったと思います!
