1 attempt.
What do you mean forgot the handbrake? As in, left it on before taking off?
-
yeah i forgot to put it down and the supervisor had to remind me so it resulted in immediate termination, can't believe i made such an amateur mistake :(
-
Try again and you'll get it. I got mine on my second attempt. I failed my first cause I drove at around 70 km/h into a school zone for around 10 seconds until the supervisor gave me a tap on my shoulder =.=
-
manual?

manual?
nah i used auto
i cant believe how strict they are...i didn't even get to show them my driving, was all over in like a minute just because i forgot to put the handbrake down

If it makes you feel better I know someone that failed on the spot for switching on the engine before putting on their seatbelt

I got my P's first shot, though I did get a critical error for stalling the car and I almost got two more:
- One for trying to drive the car at the start of the test when it was still in accessories (the engine wasn't on), but luckily they didn't count that as a critical error
- One for parking next to a fire hydrant post at the end of "stage one", but I realised this just as I was parking, so I moved the car a few metres forward
I know someone who did almost the whole test and passed, but as he was driving in vicroads, he went above the 20km/h car park speed limit, so he failed just a few seconds before the test was going to be over.
-
Someone told me that their test got terminated because they went over 5km in the parking area..

Which vicroads is that at? In the one at the Frankston/Seaford area, the speed limit is 20km/h.

Dandenong I believe.. I think the hardest part of the test is the initial start ???
One of my cousins had to do a reverse parallel and the other one had to a simple angled parking and a 3 point turn lol.. Worst thing for me is that I'm practicing on an Auto and I'll probably end up doing my test in a manual Toyota Yaris or something. Preferably a smart car or something haha.

I was lucky I got the 3 point turn :) But even with the reverse parallel parking, they allow you to go up to 7 metres back, so that is quite a lot of distance to park. If you're driving in the city (which I don't do much because I am terrible at city driving), you get hardly any space between cars, so it doesn't really prepare you for that.
Most of my 120 hours were in a Volkswagen Golf, which has an indicator on the left instead of the right, and the clutch and gearstick are so much smoother and easier to use. In the test, I had to use a rough and old Toyota Corolla, and that made it really hard for me. At least I got a few lessons with the instructor to get used to it.

I've driven two stick shifts. One was an old 1980's car made by TATA (An Indian company who were rubbish back then), and a 2012 VW Tiguan :D... The latter felt pretty nice :). Same gearbox as your golf probably.
But yeah, I'll be going to from a Manual Yaris or corolla to an RX8, so it's a fair jump :P

Right now I'm stalling the car about 3 times in each hourly drive. I have a long way to go -_-

Guys I'm actually terrified of getting my P's. My friend failed twice already all because she either a) didn't give way and b) gave too much way.
One thing I can't stand is city driving . Theres cars everywhere and there is absolutely no courtesy for other drivers.

I'm going to go when there's nobody around, so when everyones at work. That way, roads are all clear :)

Perfect shameless plugging opportunity :D
My Dad runs a driving school with a 95%+ pass rate, teaches both manual and automatic. Prices aren't bad either, he's very useful for last-minute error-corrections prior to your test http://mobility.net.au/Mobility/index.htm

Lol. Nice advertising. Might give that a go.

If it makes you feel better, my mum failed three times before she got her full
Liscence. She's been driving back in my home country malaysia for over 30 years but needed to take the test to get her Victorian liscence.
Failed once for driving too fast, then too slow. Failed the 3rd for not stopping at a stop sign. Prompted my dad to ask the supervisor how many times one can fail. He replied that you can repeat the test as many times as you have money for lol...

I failed once because I almost ran over a pedestrian. On a pedestrian crossing. Yeah. The only way I could explain it was that the nerves made me go insane and forget that I was operating a giant metal killing box on wheels. Passed the second go though.
