Title: Clothing and Apparel Discussion Thread
Post by: nacho on January 12, 2013, 02:07:41 am
Hello,
thought I'd make a thread where we could post outfits or accessories, links to online shop sites etc and discuss things like that, just to see what other people think of our tastes etc.

I just found out about http://www.aliexpress.com
--- after consulting some friends, apparently it's a very dodge site, with low quality clothing

Where I finally found some floral print shirts, and they're cheaper than I was expecting.

Also,
opinions on the anchor and thing below it ? (disregard owl and infinity), pictured below? Positive/negative?

and these two shirts:

Does anyone have an expensive good quality leather jacket ($400+ or GTFO)

I got mine reduced from like $300 to $200 at Tarocash on swanston, I really like it for going out on weekends. I usually combine it with a plain white shirt, dark jeans (not black!!) and black shoes.

Where I live its winter now, so I'm more into winterfashion at the moment and for the shirts you posted I'm too white anyways. You don't know how much I'd give to look as good as that dude.

Just for everyday cloth I'm mostly wearing a coat similar to this one:

with a random T-shirt or polo, just depends on what is washed and dark coloured jeans

For shoes I often wear these ones, took a picture of them after I got them:

I actually love them floral shirts! But then again, they aren't going to look good on everyone.

Right now, I'm searching for a good pair of loafers I can wear with my chinos but unfortunately I haven't been able to find any that match.
Oh well, I'll keep looking!

have you had a cheaper leather jacket?
I wanted to buy one, but I've heard the difference between cheap and expensive leather jackets are huge in terms of quality and how the jackets age. I don't want to blow 100-150 on a bad product.

for winter i really want to buy a trenchcoat and goth the shit out of it, like so:
in case it doesn't work i've gotten an argyle and cable-knit sweater as backup.

I havent bought anything from roger david before, but zara.. I think they're shit quality and not worth the price.

White chinos or khakis + button down shirts, thoughts?
Some say, white chinos are "gay" but i think they're great for summer/spring weather.

also the model in my first post is Rafael Lazzini, brazillian supermodel.

The closest substitute i found to the floral shirt: http://www.aliexpress.com/item-img/FREE-SHIPPING-MEN-S-personalized-floral-print-shirt-male-british-style-men-slong-sleeve-clothing/677796483.html#

also, thoughts on this? http://www.aliexpress.com/item-img/Free-shipping-Men-s-Slim-Luxury-Stylish-Casual-Shirts-M-L-XL-XXL-Light-blue-Pink/604793517.html

i'm enjoying the pattern revealed when the sleevees are rolled up, looks like he owns a casino haha

edit: seriously, how cheap is aliexpress?
I'm amazed

I love chinos on guys, no matter what the colour. Like you said, they are perfect for the spring/summer weather.

My brother recently bought these red/maroon chinos from new york which he has been wearing with a trench coat and these awesome velvety loafers. He fit in really well in the new york scene. Haha. Too bad he can't wear that combo in Melbourne until may-june.

Also with Zara, it's super expensive in Australia. It's waaaaay more cheaper in Europe. The quality is so-so. I got an overcoat from the Zara in London but the buttons came off within 3-4 times of me wearing it.

Should look good, even better you're tanned, white chinos or khakis are a good way to wear button down shirts that you don't wear much but want to, because the white suits a lot of different colour shirts

And it doesn't look gay, even if it did, chicks love gay HAHAS

I dunno.

Those blue ones might suit if you wear sort of darker earthy tops eg; maroon, brown, black, but it's not the best look but definetly doable, seen it before, , can look good on some people, just make sure your other clothes aren't all bright too or else you'll look like a highlighter pack

like honestly, if you're unsure about wearing bright colours, you really shouldn't. i always stick to earth colours and on occasion when i do wear bright ones, i feel like im sticking out, even if it doesnt look all that bad :/

Yeah I know what you mean. It's so annoy when you want to wear a certain type of clothing but you feel you can't pull it off! But most of the time, if you try it, it would probably work with some modifications!

just make sure your other clothes aren't all bright too or else you'll look like a highlighter pack

I lol'ed haha. Good Call. Good Call

I dunno.
I completely disagree(Although seeing their popularity, im probably alone), I hate that maroon colour. I've never thought it looked good on anyone. Especially when I see those highschool kids with a super long fringe and t-shirt a size too big for them wearing it. Pisses me off a bit actually. I always wanted to try a bright blue. Once I was at jeans west looking at the women's jeans since the mens only had standard colours and the sales assistant came up to me and said 'You know, this is the women's section.' -_-
Additionally, is it just me or does it make your thighs look massive in a fat, not muscly way ?

I think bright blue pants look good depending on the individual, combo'd with a linen button down shirt
eg: (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8iIquHbf79E/UHRc4LyTlYI/AAAAAAAAGqk/B0XPLDHPGaE/s320/verao13.jpg)

Yea, earth colours always play it safe, I reckon they're appropriate in pretty much any season as well.

I think most of the time it looks hideous. It rarely looks good, that's not to say it can't. You need to choose the right colours and the right type of clothes to make it work. It's just not my style though.

 :o love colour blocking!!! :(

Then again, it works better with the curry skin tones  ;D

i agree with the neck looking long, but imo long necks>short necks. and it's not long enough to be awkwardly long.
did it remind anyone of harvey specter from suits? their face structure is almost identical

probably more suited to older people for office/work wear in terms of suits and shoes but everything from the plain white t to the straight cut blue jeans (Y)

although i prefer slim fitted dark blue/black jeans over straight cut blue

You are all powerful!

Ahh yes, I remember buying stuff from those little shops on the side in Madras! It was so damn cheap!! Even the really nice "stores" are reasonable as well. But the bigger numbers do make me think a little more! I mean, a RS.1000 is equal to about $20 here haha.

Surprising thing is that the quality is by no means bad either. When I go to India this year, I'll be stocking up for sure!

For real, I think it's too big. Like you could use it as a blanket to wrap a medium sized baby. it's ugly

Hmm, but I think the width/length suits my frame, anything too small and I look stupid IMO. How about the stripes? Fan? Yay/nay?

I love ninja/goth styles(haven't tried rocking it, but i think they look really cool).
Unless you mean the whole eyeshadow/dark makeup and black band tees, in which case i'm not into that
but if you mean stuff on this page: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/goth%20ninja
then I dream of buying a trench coat and drop crotch pants for this winter :)

Florian I had no moustache in the above pic, probably lighting/camera

No, not the eyeshadow or band tees or the ninja one. I sometimes wear band tees/ funny gaming or science joke tees (particularly at uni and I have to change in and out of my lab coat) but I'm a fan of the Romantigoth, Industrial and New Age-y styles.

Stuff like:
Lace, ruffles, velvet
Trench coats
Big platform boots
Spiritual/occult jewellery
Tie dye
Etc.

For allergy reasons I'm not big on makeup so I don't wear it.

I wouldn't recommend attempting gothninja/goofninja until you master the more basic #menswear / smart casual look as it's pretty expensive to get into and is pretty hard to pull off, here are some good tumblrs to lurk though for inspiration

The clothing on that website looks really bad and it'll be very yesstyle/fabrixsquare tier - cheap construction and quality.

If you really want to go that route try checking out saxony.com.au and iloveugly.net the appearance will still be pretty pleb as it doesn't really compare to high fashion gothninja brands e.g. Rick Owens/Raf Simons/Balmain/Yohji/etc.

all i thought of was this:

Firstly, fak you ;(( Luckily it wasn't an expensive shirt haha.

AND HIPS ARE GOOOOD. Guys love dem curves!
General rule of stripes is that horizontal stripes = make you look wider (not necessarily a bad thing) and vertical stripes make you look taller and thinner.

Furbs I think thats a really nice top! Was it expensive? I can see you pulling that top off. If you tuck it into shorts or jeans, should solve the problem (which I dont believe exists coz you're skinny as fuck)
