and do we have to pick one arts foundation subject, they look so crap :/
-
^ That's why I went to Monash. ;D
-
Nope, still waiting on the email...
-
My mail has come...nothing from unimelb...wasn't it meant to be posted today??
-

It's an email, not postal mail :) And yeah, still waiting...
-
^ ^
Isn't it getting emailed? Then we will have our ID number so we can enrol online.
I haven't got mine yet either :/
-
Nop I haven't gotten anything either. Have you guys received anything in the mail from the past few days?
-
I'm a bit confused...
Are we supposed to accept the offer and enrol ONLINE? How come on VTAC, we were given a destination and time to enrol?
Still expecting an email...
-

Yeah I was confused about that as well, but I think the 'enrollment' time and place in the VTAC thing is simply the academic advice day session and where it's happening...
-
So, we can:
1) Accept the offer & enrol online once we receive the email.
2) Miss out on Academic Advice Day and just enrol into subjects as they can be done online.
Unfortunately, I'm missing out because I'm overseas. If these statements are true then it would be so much easier.
You guys reckon I need to inform them of my absence?
-
I haven't either. I was beginning to worry :S
-
no email yet
:-\
-
Same no email, i think i've refreshed my page about 10 times now LOL
-
no email yet
:-\
I was getting worried too, because I thought that maybe they sent it to the wrong email or left me out :-\
So I asked them on facebook, because I know that the phone line will take a while...
This is what they replied: Hi Mandy, we can't give you a firm time but they'll be out today.
-
I'm going to take a stab and say that the email will come between 4.30 - 5.00
-
I'm going to take a stab and say that the email will come between 4.30 - 5.00
Most likely, haha, right at the end of the business day.
-
ohhhh...some places might receive it tomorrow morning like around 11-12ish...so you guys don't worry...unless you don't get it by the end of tomorrow.
Enjoy doing your enrolments :P
-
I just received the email!
-
got it 10 mins ago
-
Got it!
-
Got the email, in the middle of enrolling at the moment. Is anyone else in the Chancellor's Scholars Program? I am in it, and it states it in the email, but on the website, it says only "B-BMED Bachelor of Biomedicine". Is this right?
-
Nothing yet...
-
mandystsai: yeah same, mine just says B-SCI despite being in the scholars program, i think the course code remains the same.
-
Yeah I got stumped at that part of the enrolment. Because they ask us whether we want to pay upfront or put it onto our HECS... But it's not really either of those options. I'm probably gonna shoot them an email or wait till that info session on Wednesday to find out :)
-
My negotiated offer as been approved and I just recieved the enrollment email from Melbourne uni for my initial offer, what happens if I accept it? Should I enroll in it just incase?
-
Anyone up to 'Select Subjects'? Bit confused about this Subject/Structure Code and how we go about it.. Are we even able to choose subjects right now or do we have to wait til' a later date?
-
what is this "HECS HELP" thing?
i dnt have a tax file number

I'm also confused here...
-

It's a loan you get from the government, they pay most of your semesters fees and then when you start working you can pay the government back. Apply for a TFN now.

It said something about how it's only an indication of what you think you're going to do, so I guess it doesn't really matter what you put then. I put pay upfront, I think that's what the scholarship does?
-
lol still havent got mine..
-

Also confused. Do we have to enrol in 2nd and 3rd year subjects as well?! I think I'll do this after AA day... :-[
-
No just first year subjects for now.
-
I got mine at around 3:45. Enrolled but then I can't access Student Portal, which is super annoying.
-
lol still havent got mine..
Ok so I'm not alone, that's reassuring.

Same here.
-
I centered in a major and then this whole group of subjects for like 3 years automatically came up in select subjects.
I am utterly confused. With the Arts discpline box, do we pick a subject from our major. Surely they could have made it simpler!
-
Ok so I'm not alone, that's reassuring.
im becoming impatient..
-
can anyone get past the commonwealth assistance form? i applied for HECS help and i cant get any further...
-

Yeah I got past it, are your sure you've completed it all?
I'm currently stuck at the subject part... It says you need to make a study plan, which I think is in the "Student Portal" or something, but I can't log into the portal. Are we supposed to be able to do this yet?
-
yeh ive completed it all...i submitted the form twice as well and it still wont let me pass
-
how long do we have to complete all the fields?
-
I am filling out the form now, does anyone know what the student number is? They said that its not the same as my VTAC application number. Where can I find this student number? Or do you think that it's the same as my student VTAC number? A little confused, any help will be greatly appreciated :)
-
student number is the number u received in ur email
-
So is it the VTAC ID or the course number?
-
So is it the VTAC ID or the course number?
It's your unimelb student ID
In the email you got, scroll down to "To accept this offer" and in there's a bolded bit where it says "Your University of Melbourne student ID (which you will need to enrol) is" and it has the number there.
-
Aha!! Found it thanks guys!! :D
-
no its the number u used to set up ur account and begin the enrolment
-
When we are choosing subjects, do we have to do this for 2nd and 3rd year (plan so ahead)? Or can we just leave it?
Also, are we supposed to pick our breadths already?

How did you get to that section? I'm on the "Select Subjects" screen, but not sure what to do from here.. Am I overlooking something?
-
Yep, I'm also on the 'subject selection' section. After I completed the enrolment declaration I got redirected to it. The title says 'Study Plan Details' and if you scroll down there should be a weird diagram where you choose subjects.

Oh shit. In the place where I think it's supposed to have that, mine says "There are no components available for enrolment". That doesn't sound promising... haha.
-
Still haven't got mine. :(
I assume at this point it won't come until tomorrow?
-
ok so how do get access to the student portal? what is this central email username?
-

Hey same here i have the same message "There are no components available for enrolment," what do we do?
-
I am enrolling into my subjects for Bach of Environments, my intended major is Civil Systems. Can I follow the sample course plan on the website LOL, because I have no idea what to enrol in and when?
This is the link to the sample course plan:

It is only necessary to ever enrol in subjects for the next immediate semester. You can do breadth subjects now, but there is no requirement to. I think that you only need to be enrolled in one subject before semester starts to be "enrolled", but need to have chosen all your subjects by the census date (week 3 or 4).
-
How do you actually work that study plan diagram?? When i put in a major it doesn't allow me to choose level 1 subjects and I can't put in a second major-it says 'search cannot be found' even though I have put in the name of the Major 'Ancient World Studies'. I foxed myself one of those excel tables that plans out a 3-year degree but i can't translate it into the study plan.
So confusing, can anyone help with this??

Leave the search bar empty, then click search. All of your available options should then be shown
-
Can we just wait until the Academic Advice day and then choose our subjects? As attending that day will give us a better idea of what subjects are relevant to our majors etc etc.

I agree, don't understand the point of academic advice day if they suggest that we enrol in subjects before it...what do we need advice for then?
-
whens the latest we can enrol our subjects?
-
Mine says that the lapse date(I'm not very sure of what they mean by lapse date but I think it's the same as the last enrolment date) is 1st of Feb, that's for environments though. :)
-
I thought 1st Feb was to accept the offer and 1st march was for subjects? :o
This whole process is so foreign to me :-[

Haha I think youre right, I'm not very sure with this whole thing either! I think I'm gonna get lost at the Uni too haha :-[

When will negotiated offer students get their enrollment details ? :(
-
for biomed guys, what do you do with '1st year pathway option'?
-
what the hell am i supposed to do ???? the student plan is so confusing, I've only got my major down :(
-

6th Feb

Relax a bit. The uni system is going to be confusing at first but in time you'll get used to it.
Don't rush into taking subjects just because they look good, think about possible majors/ backup options and prerequisites in order to get to those. You still have a while to choose a major on the study plan (too early IMO), just focus on subjects you are wanting to enrol in (and make sure to check out the handbook). There's plenty of people on the forum that can help you out with specific study plan issues, or better yet going to the student centre will help :)
-
Lol I still haven't got the email. ::)
I don't actually remember when or how I set up an email for this.

Try calling the university, or ask on their Facebook page.
-
Why can't I find any subjects to select? Anyone?

It would be helpful if you posted a screenshot or something.

Try calling the university, or ask on their Facebook page.
"Unusually high volume of calls"; this is going to take a while. :P
-
Why can't I find any subjects to select? Anyone?
Are you doing this via the study plan? Make sure you know each subject code (via handbook), or I think there is an advanced search or something. But yeah as peedles said, maybe post a screen shot
-
Why can't I find any subjects to select? Anyone?
You know how after you click choose and you get to the screen where it says enter Subject/Structure Code, just leave that field blank and click search. Then you get to the structure screen I believe where I don't think you can alter anything so just click continue or whatever, then you should get to the screen where you are able to choose your subjects.
-
When do I have to choose my subjects by? Can I wait until after tomorrow so that I know about each subject?
-
if i choose my subjects now, can i change them after AAD?
-

Yes you can!

-
so im upto subject selection,
but i cant see where to search for subjects?

In the enrollment thing.

yeah it comes up with
There are no components available for enrolment.
-
yeah same problem here
-
called em up and they said the science center may have deliberately done that to stop kids selecting subjucts before attending AAD
And that the portal might not be working cause the server would be fricken overloaded
-
And that the portal might not be working cause the server would be fricken overloaded
By the end of the year, you won't be surprised by the portal's everlasting problems.
-
Hit search with nothing in the search bar, it'll come up with your subjects.

Ooooh! Thanks :D

If you select a particular subject, can you then go back and choose a different subject in the future?

Yes, you can change subjects up until the census date.

Just out of curiosity how did that turn out? I'm in the same boat this year and can't go to any of the advice/help days as I'm overseas until the 28th Feb.
-
lol guys, you most definitely do not need to go to academic advice day.
-

This. But you should go, it's fun! And a great chance to make some friends.
