Title: Picked up 3/4 PE without 1/2
Post by: Romaboy on February 05, 2013, 08:02:33 pm
Hey guys, I actually just piked up 3/4 PE yesterday with out doing 1/2. However, I have already done Biology 3/4 and also did year 10 PE. I haven't done any orientation work because I only just switched into it yesterday. Now that that's said, lets get to business.
Is it likely for me to get a scaled 40 if I put in hours into study a week?
What should I learn from 1/2 that is relevant in 3/4?
What are some good resources that I should have a look at?

Hey mate,

I did almost the same thing. I picked up 3/4 P.E in Year 11 coming straight from a one semester Yr10 P.E subject. I didn't dedicate any time to learning 1/2 content, just focused on the Yr12 stuff and I did ok, so if you're committed, you'll be fine :)

I'm doing Physical Education 3&4 right now. I've realised that 1&2 is substantially helpful although it isn't a "must".
Topics from 1&2 that relate to 3&4 that I can remember are:
- Measuring physical activity (subjective,objective)
- National Physical Activity Guidelines (NPAG)
- Exercise types (aerobic, anaerobic etc.)

Just some other small topics in general.

Also, Physical Education is not a hard subject at all and doesn't really have that much content to cover. I scored 95% in my Year 11 exam and all the rest of my SAC's were 90%+ excluding one.

Thanks, I have already gone over the first two and I also did 3/4 Biology so I still have a bit of an understanding about the exercise types :)

Hey guys, I didn't want to start a new topic because this thread covers pretty much what I want.
I'm thinking of doing P.E units 3/4, without units 1/2 or any knowledge of the P.E background.
Does the course overlap with HHD in any areas?
Are the topics covered in units 1/2 ESSENTIAL for units 3/4?
Also, is P.E just theory in year 12? Is there any pracs? If so, what?

Thank you

Hey
I didnt do HHD but I am an aware of any overlap, hopefully someone who did the subject can verify.
The only topic really from 1/2 that is needed in 3/4 is energy systems. Saying this though you are taught everything again. Also if you happen to have done bio you will know most of it anyway.
In regards to pracs this is up to your own school - mine had none. 1 part of PE is learning about training programs and I do know some schools actually get there kids to undergo a training program (not as a sac though). Also your school may do other activities to help reinforce ideas. Ask your school about this one.

Hope that helps :)
