Title: Diagnostic English Language Assessment (DELA)
Post by: MicroShift on February 07, 2013, 10:08:18 pm
So I just got an email about me being required to sit the DELA since I got between 25-29 for English in VCE (I got 29). Has anyone sat this before and can give an idea on what it covers, how easy/hard it is, etc?

Frankly I find it a bit ridiculous and am offended that they believe my English skills to be lacking, I just hated the subject in VCE and therefore didn't really bother studying much. I'm perfectly fluent in English and can write essays and the like on topics I'm actually passionate about (like Computer Science, which is what I intend to major in). But, alas, evidently I will be required to sit it.

Cheers, that did come up in search but the link took me to the second page and I didn't see there was a first. :P

EDIT: Ok I read over that, so basically this thing is going to be a joke for anyone who has spoken English as their first language for all their life?

Yeah it's easy, just basic listening and writing. You probably won't get through your degree if you can't pass that test :)
