I was just wondering if there are any students studying the book and what their thoughts are of it?
We could even start a discussion that could benefit everyone. However I think it's unlikely. :)
-
I would be one of them :)
I think that the book is enjoyable and there is a lot to write about. I like the historical context of the book as well as the deeper meanings. Dickens expression is also rather enjoyable.
-
Very Good book however the language is hard to grasp since its written around mid 1800's.
-
It takes a bit to get used to. What I have done is started a glossary of sorts. In the back of my folder I have some paper, and I write down a word and the definition that I don't understand. I then later on put this in a sentence as revision, so that hopefully I understand it better and maybe if it's relevant use it in essays.
-
Ahh very clever aha! Yea I got used to it after the second read(while doing review qs for school) have you started any essay topics? I don't think I'm ready I need to do find some quotes and do a character analysis.
-
Leme know if you need any help with it :P
-
I'm available too :D

Cheers everyone! Actually this might be lazy on my behalf and I don't really want to bother anyone. However if you guys can be able to upload some of your notes (as in quotes and whatever that was useful to your studies) that would make me the happiest student in VCE. Otherwise its okay with me :)!

I will see what I can muster up tomorrow, it's all on paper for now. Just today I went and sourced some topics to do essays on. We have the SAC on it in a fortnight...
-
Sac in two weeks, hopefull you're going to kill it :) yea and there's a few essay topics on the English board.
-
i have notes that i could scan sometime this week, but the handwriting is terrible, and some of the formatting is really messy :P
-
Never read the book but I went to watch it as a play recently. Would've loved to study it instead of stupid/boring Cosi

I've been using pkaur's quote summary http://www.atarnotes.com/?p=notes&a=feedback&id=1019. We had to just do our first essay on the topic "What are our initial impressions of Scrooge? ", I might chuck it up after I get a few people to look at it. If anyone has any other topics that they have found were good (or any really) I would love to get a hold of them for practice.
oh, and here's another essay I found on here http://www.atarnotes.com/?p=notes&a=feedback&id=650
