Hi guys,
I am in the BSc.
For the Doctor of Dental Surgery, the pre-requisites are said to be anatomy, physiology and biochemistry (apparently 2nd year subjects).
I was just wondering if I would be able to fulfill these pre-requisites without doing 1st year Biology and 1st year Chemistry at the same time?
I.e. could I just do 1st year Chemistry in my 1st year (and eventually completing 2nd year Chem in my 2nd year), but pick up 1st year Biology in my 2nd year (and eventually complete 2nd year Bio in my 3rd year)?
Wouldn't that satisfy the pre-requisites, or is this structure in the BSc impossible?
My appointment with them is Monday (to answer this), and I'm thinking that it'd be a bit late then to change subjects already after 2 weeks :(
Thanks!!!

Have you tried sorting it out on an excel spreadsheet or something first?

I assume those are the three subjects you need. For Biochem (BCMB) All you need is Chemistry but for the other two subjects, you would require at least two semesters worth of Bio as a prerequisite or else you can't do the subjects.
So from what I understand, I am pretty sure you would have to complete the two semesters worth of Bio this year (Just the two Level 1 Bio and Chem subjects)

Yeah, that's correct Bandit but it's highly probably he can do 1st year Bio in 2nd year as long as he completes some 3rd year courses in second year (since you need to have 75 points of 3rd year science in your course). However, I want to see whether he's had any go at planning his own course out, it's really not that difficult and it's good for your own future.

Thanks a lot guys, but I got everything sorted out at the SSC. If anyone has queries such as mine (and are in the BSc) I highly recommend going to them because they were very helpful.
For anyone that's interested, I decided to do BIOL10005 in the 2nd semester this year, and BIOL10004 in the 1st semester of 2nd year. By then I would have done my Chems 1&2, so along with BIOL10004, I will be studying BCMB20002. In the 2nd semester of 2nd year, I will be doing ANAT20006 and PHYS20008.

What is your VCE score? (Or IB, A-Levels, etc.) If your score is high enough you could waive Chem 1 and do only Chem 2.
What I did for my Year 1 Sem 1, now Biochem in Sem 2 :D

I don't think you can waive Chemistry 1 just by doing VCE because there is a lot of stuff that is new-ish to those students. Did you do IB?

I did IB, last time i checked you need a 4/7 or sth. There's an ebook version of the guide to yr1 sci subjs somewhere on the net, which may or may not include vce

Well, technically if you can waive Chem 1 having done only Fundamentals you should be able to waive Chem 1 having done VCE Chemistry. Problem is most people have done VCE chemistry! So I don't think they would be very happy about it catching on and everyone trying to skip it :3
