4 hours a day? That's insane! :o

-
I try to sleep 7 - 9 hours a night, depending on circumstances. With uni and study, I end up sleeping at around 11pm and waking at 7am each day.
-
Weekdays: 4-7 hours
Weekends: 8-10 hours
:)
-
7-8 hours
-
5-8

Apparently Di Vinci slept 2 hours a day. 1/2 hour every 6 hours.
-
9 hours would be ideal, 8 would be nice that only happens on holidays sometimes on weekends :(
Usually 6-7 hours :(

anyone try short more frequent naps then one long sleep?
-
Last Year while travelling 3-4 hrs total each day to uni: 4-5 hrs a day.
This year living closer to uni: 5.5-7 hrs a day.
I never used to be able to function with under 8 hours a day. That all changed when I started uni..... since there wasn't really any other option....
-
I try to get 9-10 hours every night.
-
i fukn love sleep, almost as much as maths, maybe even more, i try at least 10+ hours each day
-
I usually get 8 hours of sleep, sometimes 9 if I finish my homework early.
-
max 8 hours..I went to uni one day with 4 hours of sleep..and I stayed there from 9 to 6. I dont remember the rest :(
-
I get 6-7 hours !
-
8-9 on weekends.
Weekdays... I'm lucky if I get 6... Which is crap because I need 7 at least. I'm just not tired until 2am most of the time.
-
6-8 hours
Wake up at 5:45-6:00
-
at least 8
I'd rather not handing in homework than not being able to concentrate in class

Seriously, I'm actually the opposite!!! I do not like the idea of being caught out not doing the homework and getting embarrassed, I'd rather sit there clueless for a period instead.

This, but with a need of 9-10 hours.
If I can't finish something then there is no point wasting a whole day just to avoid getting told off. Priorities.
-
i usually sleep from 5pm - 8/9pm then from 2am-7am so it becomes like 8-9ish a day, its good because when i want to do hw there arnt many distractions, but sometimes when i go out after school im ko'd by like 6 oclock

um, okay. I find it embarrassing if I don't know the answer to something in class.
(I'm one of those people who basically hide under the desk when embarrassed...)

We don't get singled out during class I guess. So that's why I don't really get embarrassed during class, and besides, if I don't know the answer, I don't see how I'd get embarrassed anyway, I normally just ask my friends if I felt like it.
Put simply, a teacher expects that you get your homework completed, however they do not (or they shouldn't) expect you to know everything. So that's really why I feel embarrassed if I don't get my homework done.
Each to their own :)

fair enough, kesh.
Anyway, not to mean to sound like a bitch, but I have at least 2 spares a day, so I just do my hw then.

Lucky! I'm doing 5 subjects so I don't get too many spares. Would be handy

LOL wow how precise! I could never have a 30 min nap - it takes me that long to just fall asleep haha
Edit: on topic though, my magic no for sleep (that will allow normal functioning) is 7 (plus or minus) 2 hours =) I once went to uni on like 0 sleep though (damned assignment)....never again! :'( :P

Ideally I will try to sync my body clock ( circadian rythmn) to the rise and set of the sun, so its more a seasonal thing with my sleep pattern. Supposedly we are more alert early in the morning and in my experience, that is true for the most part.
So on average I will probably aim for 9 hours of sleep (not taking into account the time it takes to fall asleep). I will also try to sleep for a time divisible by 90 minutes so that I may wake up at the beginning/end of a new sleep cycle and feeling fresh as opposed to being woken up by an alarm in the state of deep or NREM sleep.
The general habit of depriving yourself of sleep, common amongst uni students, is one that I find repulsive. No one is doing themselves any favours by continually getting anything less than 6 hours a day. Even worse is getting no sleep at all, trying to study or finish an assignment. That for me is a form of self tortue. Had to resort to an all nighter once... Never again
And yes I am up very early in the morning but only because I'm now on break and want to enjoy sleeping in :P
-
Weekdays: 5.5 on avg.
Weekends: 8 on avg

If you go to bed at sunset tonight, and get up at sunrise, you'll be in bed for 12 hours and 18 minutes. Do you really do this?
-
Weekdays = 3-5 hours
Weekends = 10 hours
On holidays, it's either 12 hours or 0 hours.. and even when I sleep for 12 hours, I wake up more tired than if I was to sleep for 0 hours, lol.

You should get way more sleep than that .. considering you're only in year 10.
-
Weekdays: 4.5 - 7.5 hours (Additionally, less than stated if assignments are due, more than stated if I don't go to uni)
Weekends: 6 - 14 hours

Sorry I didn't word that properly. What I meant was that I will try to get up at around sunrise on a regular basis so that I will be able to do so without an alarm clock in the future. So that its as if my time of wake is in sync with this point of the day. The sun will have set for at least a couple of hours, usually, before I would call it a night.

Whilst my sleeping pattern is still far from perfect, I think I've improved since I graduated from high school:
During year 12:
Weekdays: 5-6 hours
Weekends: 10-12 hours
This year:
Weekdays + Friday: 6-8 hours
Saturday: 8-10 hours

You dont sleep on Sunday? ::)

Oversleeping can be equally poor for you as under sleeping, in terms of feeling wrecked when you wake.
-
You dont sleep on Sunday? ::)
Sunday night counts as a weekday, since you have to wake up for work/school/whatever on the Monday. I consider Friday night and Saturday night to be my weekends. And the reason I don't get much sleep on Friday night is because I often work Saturday mornings and have to wake up early for that.
-
Weekdays: 9-11 hours sleep
Usually go out saturday night (late) so I have sleep debt throughout the week
-
On weekdays, I manage 7~7.5 hours at best. And when the teacher's talking their head off about something for too long and everyone's just listening, I space out involuntarily. It's actually the most annoying thing ever, as when I'm trying to listen in SD or physics, the teachers end up talking for a while and I just get spaced out when everyone else is listening. And for some reason nowadays, I can barely make it to 12:30 at night without nearly slumping over.
My sleep requirements = biggest inconvenience discovered this year
-
Usually 7.5-8 on weekdays. I did 6-7 for about a week, then crashed, slept for 9.5 hours and all was good the next day :D
