Title: Need help with a year of wonders prompt?

 “In the face of the plague, the characters’ beliefs disintegrate"

I'm a little bit confused to what it is asking, can anyone give me hints to what I could write about it this prompt?

I think the prompt is saying that due to the plague, the views, values and beliefs of characters are broken apart as they had to face it.
Well I haven't done 'Years of Wonders' as a text study myself this year but I will give you advice just what can be written about the prompt.
Discuss not only beliefs maybe but also views and values and maybe you could discuss repercussions of some sort. I am not 100% but I would expand on the beliefs idea and maybe discuss views an values.

I'll just say the following: No, not all the villagers have their belief's disintegrate. For example, look at the flagellants or Anna or Mompellion. Their beliefs don't crumble when faced with the plague, although it may seem as if it does. :)
