I've looked through VCAA exams and unit 4 looks much easier!! Is it just me?!
-
Yeah Unit 4 is much easier imo

Because I looked at the questions in the exam and generally, the unit 3 exams look slightly more difficult
-
Most of the people I've talked to from my school that have done 3&4 have told me that they found unit 4 much easier than unit 3.
-
Questions on monohybrid/dihybrid cross and punnet squares are such easy marks. Protein synthesis questions are also easy. I think that the amount of knowledge for Unit 4 Bio overall is generally less overwhelming than unit 3, from what I've seen doing the course over the holidays :)

Judging from how easy last year's exam was, do you think the 2013 exam will be difficult?
-
I have no idea what any of you are on about. For me, unit 3 was much, much simpler than unit 4.
Pedigrees and reciprocal crosses and test crosses and all that? Nope. Molecular biology any day of the week.

Exactly. From doing pedigrees and genetics in year 10 I think that theyre way harder than Unit 3...

It all depends on what topics you prefer. From having done genetics in Year 10, I find it really interesting and I think a little bit easier than some topics in Unit 3 such as photosynthesis and cellular respiration which is not really to my liking. Though overall for me all topics seem overwhelming at first until I do all the reading and actually understand it.

When I did genetics in year 10, I found that it was more challenging than other biology topics because it involved thinking and not just regurgitation of theory.

But questions that involve pedigrees and mono/dihybrid crossing are honestly easy marks. Especially phenotypic ratios and genotypic ratios and the proportion of offspring that have or don't have the trait. I personally adore genetics, and protein synthesis transcription + translation! Cannot wait. But Unit 3 is also lots of fun.
