18/20 happy but apparently I moved a lot and one of my presentation slides had too much info but it was like that on purpose yet still happy.

18/20, held up pretty well if I say so myself. Now I've just got to hold it together for context ugh.

Second this. Don't think I can replicate that score, especially not for English. xD

18/20 because I did my speech against a ban on live exports, and my teacher just happened to be a vegetarian...  :'(

15/20 (Which is a B+ at our school)

Could've done a little better, but was still pleased given that public speaking isn't exactly my forte haha.

I don't now what mark I got but I got A+ even though it went way over the time limit so that was lucky...
Now I just need to get essays up to the same grade  ::)

If I got a B+ for my oral and I feel that I did worse in my written analysis.  :-\ I do hope I surprise myself!

Don't be so quick to assume! I got 20 for my oral and was stoked, but 'knew' it would be my highest for the year, but yesterday I found out I got 20 for my language analysis! Practice Practice Practice!

Picked up a 17/20 for Oral, and a 13/20 for Language Analysis. With the Oral, stupid thing is that I engaged the audience quite well, they laughed, interacted, and they gave me positive feedback after class, teacher loved it too, got 17 - my content and opinion was well structured, lost marks because I did banning gambling adverts in sport, spoke of NRL slightly more than AFL (connecting to Melbourne audience); teacher's criteria. My mate, who made his speech the night before (mind you I spent more than a week planning and writing), was not prepared, was shaking throughout, unstable voice, no opinion whatsoever, no eye-contact, scored a 18, but scaled to 17 due to going 10 seconds over the time limit. In comparison, we both got the same score; no arrogance, but just annoyed at how I put in so much effort and couldn't get an 18/19.

With language analysis, similar thing; did around 5 practice analysis', had them marked, and got 13, but this other guy, who is not even going for an ATAR this year, didn't prepare or analyse the articles got a 13.

Nonetheless, hoping these sorta scores are good enough for a 30-35 study score.

Man.... That sounds brutal but at least you sticked to you NSW origins and did not sell out to us Victorians :)

Haha, well my English teacher is from Blacktown (NSW), and went to a rival school to my ex-school in Sydney (small world). As well as he's an NRL fan, so I was expecting a bit of favour in my way. Oh well, can't change much now anyway, just gotta hope for the best in the upcoming SAC's.

Wow, it is indeed a small world.

Damn, in a way your teacher seems on the ball to be able to pickup on the NRL or AFL thing, although it seems a bit harsh. Did he really deduct mark(s) for that? It's probably the harshest way to lose marks..

Btw, I was shaking more than a slushie mixer and I scored 15.5/20 last year. Very little eye contact too. Content got me through though I guess. Hoping to replicate that score this year, lol.

I had this issue in my practice, I know my legs were doing it, but I couldn't physically stop it. Was the weirdest thing ever, but no one noticed, luckily.... haha

Man, Mr Kushy, I was so nervous that as soon as I sat down I didn't remember a word that I had said. I was talking at a rate of like 250 words per minute. I timed my speech to be around 4 minutes long speaking in a calm and controlled tone while engaging with the audience. As soon as I got up on stage, oh my gosh, felt like I was experiencing hallucinations from taking drugs lol.

My speech is in three weeks, so I'm really preparing for this one :)

I got really dramatic in my speech and at the very end I maintained intense eye contact with the Head of English and said " I challenge you. ( DRAMATIC PAUSE) I CHALLENGE you to stand up for asylum seekers...." XD

I believed what I was saying and I was happy at how I communicated it. :P I was nervous, but I guess I channelled that into the message I wanted to project.

Good luck for anyone who hasn't done their oral sac yet. :)

Before I start, I do my best to make sure the class is as chill as possible, instead of being all serious from the previous presentation. Things like when everyones talking just after I get ready, I go talk to some of my mates, just say random stuff and even walk around the room a little. The worst thing is doing the presentation, getting the start right and stuff and then after a few slides I'm like "wait, was this on there before?" hahah

I cannot emphasise how important practice and repetition is. My cousin was giving me tips on presentations, he said that his supervisor/professor is one of the best ENT (ear nose throat) specialists in the world. He knows pretty much, almost everything there is to know about ENT and gives presentations about it quite frequently and even he practices.. That's all I needed to be convinced really.

Someone who's built a profound knowledge over their years of research, still finds the necessity to rehearse and practice their presentation, regardless of the fact that they know and understand the material back to front.

I got really dramatic in my speech and at the very end I maintained intense eye contact with the Head of English and said " I challenge you. ( DRAMATIC PAUSE) I CHALLENGE you to stand up for asylum seekers...." XD

These are always the one's that come on top :D My teacher told the class that the one thing that each and every one of you have to get over is that when you present, you will have to speak/communicate differently than how you would usually to your audience, that is, your peers. You have to get over the fact that it might be embarrassing to speak formally, or passionately about the topic.

It's a small thing, but I think that it's partially why a lot of people score lower than they should. But is this why some schools make you present to just teachers instead of the class?

That reminds me when I threw a ball of paper across the room while saying "...since we keep THROWING this pressure unto athletes..." I can't even remember if the teachers go my point though  ;D.

But is this why some schools make you present to just teachers instead of the class?
I think our school's reason was for a more controlled environment with just the two teachers and also the fact that people would steal ideas since it was hard to do all in one day under class time. But seriously it sucks not having your class watching you and giving some reaction when you speak unlike teachers who were like poker face unreadable.

My presentation is on Monday.
I've prepared well and I have spent most of my night creating my powerpoint, finishing up my speech and practicing.
