So I did the Physics 1 exam today and a question came up asking to derive the moment of inertia of a rod. I remember doing that same question during the semester but for some reason couldn't do it in the exam and left it blank. After I came home and curious to see how to do it, I realised that the formula they gave us as a starting point was wrong. They wrote that:
I=S(x^2)dx instead of the correct formula I=S(x^2)dm.
I'm not certain that I would've got the correct answer had they put it correctly although my chances would be far better. Plus I spent a good 20 min on that question. What should I do? Should I email someone about it or just leave it.

Doesn't seem that your going to be at a loss if you inquire about the question. I'd just email the lecturer that set up that section of the question, provide reasoning, and then see what happens from there. If it is actually incorrect, odds are they'd just remove the question entirely from the exam and modify results on a new total score.

This has happened to me before, being asked to prove things that are not true. I emailed the lecturer about it and he agreed, coincidentally it was my highest ever mark :P
This also happened to me on Tuesday, hopefully it will be sorted as well.

No this was Physics 1, although I don't know about fundamentals.
