What are your opinions?
Do you think it was really necessary for them to include a picture of the student?
Edit (thanks Alondouek):

Extra information:
If I am not mistaken, it was possible to get 100.

Source?

''Marks were lost often towards the end of the paper where my hand fatigued and I wasn't able to complete the paper. My writing became illegible and my hand was cramping.''
Ummm, like every English exam taker? If she was stirring this my publicity about her 99.95 "shame" she would've expected that her picture would turn up in the media.
-
''The point isn't that I was doing badly. I did do well, what a normal person would consider well,''
I don't know if it's just me, but when I read this, I couldn't help but feel that she's a bit arrogant. hmm..
-
She might just be insane, that'd create a sistinctiin between her and normal people. :p

I doubt they posted that picture without her approval, she also has been interviewed by the Sydney Morning Herald before too. The bottom part of the article is quoting that previous interview.
Just so we don't retread the same ground again, we also had this thread for that previous article: Girl gets 99.95, appeals for discrimination afterwards

Wait, this later article is still from last year.

Yep this issue has been done to death on AN before haha.

what an asshole

Just an update I guess lol...
Tbh I don't think it was discrimination. She was offered a writer which she rejected, she had rest breaks.
The issues are just more rest breaks and access to a computer.
I don't know if this option was on the table, but she could have just requested a writer and wrote herself and if she felt it was necessary get the writer to help out.
At the end of the day, she should have been aware of her abilities to withstand an exam having achieved the score she did.
I guess this also leads to the questioning of the legitimacy of the 'disability'.
-
It's silly. Why didn't they raise their concerns before the marks came out? Why did she agree to sit the exams at all?
-
Seriously, so arrogant. Just makes me facepalm so hard.
She got into the course she wanted. Why bother?
I'm sensing an attempted money grab.
-

The photo says in the caption that it was from Facebook, which sort of infers they just searched her name and found it online. I would think if they had permission they would just get her to send in a photo.

obviously wants compensation $$
-
>Could of done better
>Gets into medicine
-
If she had won her appeal then her disability in her wrist seems a bit 'dangerous' if she's studying Medicine and planning to be a doctor right? ._.
-
I thought the highest was 99.95 ?
-
I thought the highest was 99.95 ?
HSC used to have a 100 UAI score, not any more since they adopted the ATAR system.
-
Talk about being arrogant. People would kill for a score like that and she's still whinging >:(
-
It's the student's right to go through the appeal avenues if they feel that they had been unfairly treated. The question is why the publicity campaign was necessary. I guess another big part of it is why she really thought it necessary, but oh well.
-
Something tells me that this girl's mum is the one pulling the strings, pushing her to appeal.
