Title: Installing an antenna socket

So I've decided to buy myself a TV, but my room doesn't have an aerial/antenna socket.

Anyone know how much it costs to get one of these and a regular electrical outlet installed? Can I have a sparkie do it, or is it a more specialised job?

This is what you have to do..Find a metal cloth hanger and a copper wire...Plug the cable into TV and twist the other end around the cloth hanger...Then hang out the cloth hanger off the window...The only available channel is SBS though...So I guess you may want to buy portable antennas...if you dont want too much work...I still dont know how digital connection is made through cables..Probably same as analogue ones..
Edit: If you're too lazy..place a fork just touching the antenna socket in TV..You may watch SBS 60-70%

Yeah I know I'm sorry...Just really nervous about my results..looking for something to entertain myself..I'm sorry..

You may try portable antenna? You dont need to climb all the way the roof..

Edit: Do you really need to have the cable passing through walls? I mean you can just place it outside the wall.
Beside that, I dont think this is a specialised task anyway..My bro is an electrical engineer so he was doing these kind of things..But I think it's just the matter of connecting the cable to both ends.

haha I'm in exactly the same situation :P

My house already has an antenna, and for convenience's sake I'd like a wall socket installed in my room (truth be told, it would be easier than putting up another antenna). I want to get a quote for it, but I'm not sure who to get one from because I have absolutely no experience with electronics lol

Any electrician should do it..but it's not that hard I guess..Since most of houses have cement sheets instead of thick bricks, you may open a hole in your room and a hole in the roof...and make the connection through these holes..

I think you need to get a sparkie to get that job done.

There are portable antennas you can buy from Dick Smith, they are presentable enough to sit on top of your bookshelf or something like that. Signal's not great, but it's something.

Install it properly and make the correct problem to be removed in it.
