I just hate doing breadth, the rest of the my subjects I really enjoy. Is there any possible way or 'loophole' I can use to get out of doing breadths?
-
Don't think so.
-
Are you doing science? I'm not sure about other courses, but at science you can do only 4 breadth subjects and take 2 science electives :D also, try searching for breadth subjects that are in line with you course, for example, my friend is doing animal science, and he's taking animal in society subject

I couldn't find a loophole, so I went to Monash. The Melbourne Model sucks. >:(
-
I got out of 2 by showing them that I needed two slots to complete an unusual double major - econ/accounting (in a b.comm).

wait, so how many breadth did you end up doing?
and also, can you do more than the maximum breadth? LOL
-
Maximum of 8. Minimum of 6. I got out of 2 in order to complete the 2 majors due to prerequisites. This essentially meant 1 breadth as 3 of them were law breadths required for an accredited Accounting degree.
-
I'm afraid not. Even if you did subjects that qualify you for 2 majors, a Science student would only be awarded one, formally anyway.
-
breadths don't have to be the worst thing in the world. they give u a great break from ur standard classes and "usually" the workload shouldn't be as heavy as ur core subjects. if it is content heavy then at least ull learn something useful (i hope) :)

Surely there are other fields you're interested in.
At La Trobe I took Roman History, Macroeconomics and Philosophy all during my first year of an IT degree. I find that electives/breadths are a great way of developing general knowledge / intellectual curiosity.
-
A friend of mine is studying Bachelor of Environment (major in Landscape Architecture) and I don't how but she only needs to do 3 breadth subjects.
-
If you're taking a concurrent diploma, you could cross-credit breadth subjects.
what do you mean?

I am interested, but they affect my marks too drastically

Have you tried the university breadth subjects?
Those ones seem to be marked quite fairly, unlike arts-based ones
-
How to succeed in an Arts breadth: ride the front of the bell curve.
Easier said than done, though languages and geography subjects (by virtue of their exam component) seem to be much fairer in this respect. I don't suppose you'd be keen on a language, though, and geography isn't even breadth-able in the BSc :(
Some of the music breadths are really easy, apparently, with lots of participation marks and no assumed prior knowledge.

As in, how would that help?
