I picked my subjects for next year: English, Accounting, Legal and RnS (and maybe methods [to keep my options open]). I'm hoping for a high 98+ ATAR. (for Arts/law most likely)
I was quite confident before but after reading and hearing various things it's apparently much easier to get high ATARs with subjects other than the ones I have chosen. Like I hear people I know punch stuff into ATARcalc of like 35 of each subject and the get 96. But my subjects to get that high I will need like mid-40's in each subject (depending on my eco result this year). I plan to study roughly 1 hour daily (aside from friday/sat'day) for each subject next year.
Basically I want to know if I should change my subjects to ones that apparently make it easier to score high or am I just misinformed?

Misinformed. Do what you enjoy most. Is just as hard for the people plugging in 35s in ATAR Calc to get a 35 in their subject as it might be to get a 45 in one of yours. *pretty unsubstantiated statement because what is hard? but that's how scaling is designed to work*

Yeah, going to be realistic here, that's not going to happen consistently. Maybe before exams / SACs, but every night: no. You'll get burnt out way to quickly and be in a massive "ceebs" mood for a while.
Also, choose subjects you are inherently good at / like. No point doing Spec Maths etc. for the scaling if you're going to get <30 in it due to lack of interest.

Misinformed. Do what you like, like what you do. I had similar doubts with my subjects (see signature), but if you're not interested in what you're studying, you're not going to do as well as you are if you're motivated.
Go with your gut feeling and initial choices.

You'll honestly get better scores doing subjects you're interested in and are good at then ones with good scaling. Hell, there's no point in picking up Latin when you're good at say Further or Methods, do what you want to.

I don't think I explained it right. I meant that I would study in frees and then spend the remaining time as homework. So full time at school and then 2-3 hours a night at home. That wouldn't be much more than I am studying now. Anyway I guess I'll just play it by ear over the year and see what works.

I remember when I told myself i'd study 5 hours a day......It lasted for about 3 months before i totally burned out. What I do now is just to totally focus in class as much as possible (although even that is hard) so that I spend less time at home studying or doing homework. Although, I guess unlike me you might be a bit luckier due to you having spare periods.
I guess it's all about mixing and matching and seeing what works for you.
