Post by: wholeT on October 05, 2013, 01:13:40 pm
Hi all, i need help with this question.
Given that the horizontal distance between F and G is 2km, the average gradient from G to F is

Much appreciated

The answer states that it is -0.15, however i got 0.15. Not sure whether i'm right.

From G to F means that we are starting at point G and heading towards point F.
As G is higher than F, we should expect to find a negative gradient as we are heading downwards, thus -0.15.

The Gradient is negative because Point G is 400m high and Point F is only 100m high. So from G TO F, it is doing downward.

If it asked you from F to G, then it would've been 0.15, because it would be upwards. :)
