Title: Conflict essay prompt help

I've been given a choice between these two topics to write a practice context essay on:

1) Conflict brings out unexpected qualities in people
2) Conflict causes growth as well as loss in people's lives

We're also studying The Crucible, so the idea is to use examples from that as well as other places.

Has anyone got a practice essay on one of these topics, or perhaps some advice of what to write about? I have no idea how even to start a context essay, in all honesty. Thanks heaps in advance.
