Title: Australian English losing to America (essay)
Post by: hyperblade01 on July 06, 2009, 08:23:16 pm
Australian English is losing its unique characteristics to Americanisms and is gradually dying. With it, much of our distinctive Australian identity is also being lost.

Do you agree?

Well I haven't done any english language these holidays, mainly been sticking to science and maths :P
Was given this topic for holiday homework and honestly, I can't think of much but at the same time I KNOW there is plenty to talk about

(This part I can cover easily I hope) Australian English & Unique characteristics:

Accent/pronunciation, slang, jargon, colloquialisms, swearing, spelling, word choice

Americanisms:
Words such as dude, homie, guy, like, chick

Australian Identity:

What do they mean by australian identity? Is it refering to what people from other parts of the world see as Australian?

I did this essay topic earlier in the year. Would you like me to send you my essay or list any topics you could include?
