Title: Grad. Med. for Bachelor of Commerce & Biomedicine
Post by: sin0001 on December 20, 2013, 01:31:38 am
Regarding the new Graduate pathway into med. in 2017 (no GAMSAT), will I be able to access the 50 reserved spots into Monash MBBS for Biomed. students, if I undertake a double degree of Comm. & Biomed.?

I had doubts as to whether I'll be able to complete the required Biomed. Units to be considered for the pathway mentioned above, with a double degree.

Also, how will a double degree (especially Comm./Biomed.) differ from a single degree? Is it much more intensive, longer, etc.?

Thanks in advance!

On another note, you should probably take the GAMSAT anyway, because there are definitely going to be more than 50 people vying for those positions from the Biomedicine course at Monash and you'd want to hedge your bets so you can apply to other universities.

I imagine you'd be eligible.

As above, sit the GAMSAT ball-breaker anyway. Expand your options.

Doubles tend to just be longer than singles. Same academic load per year. You do core units for both degrees and spend the electives for both degrees doing the other degrees core units.
