I checked with the current head of chem and he marked exams and says the cut off was that.
And I checked with the retired head of chem who also wrote checkpoints, he says it's confirmed.

lol, this reminds me of bio last year. Mid-year A+ = 61.5/75. End-year A+ = 56.5/75.

That's a very low A+ cut off. Definitely a "WOW" factor. Thanks for the info TT.

But is it a bad thing to have such a low cut-off? I much prefer this situation to the physics one (86.5/90). This is the reason why hard exams are really not that bad often once you get your results. As long as you do your best, manage to finish and limit your silly mistakes you benefit way more from a hard exam than an easy exam.

The exam is posted up, Mao posted up answers, I'm sure you can remember what you wrote if you paid attention to Chemistry. Hence it is possible.

Now that the cut-off ranges are officially out. What sort of marks do people think are required to be on track for a 43? 45? 48? 50?

Hmm probably if you get lowest A+ in all GA's then you get 39-40, so mid-range A+ in all GAs maybe 44-45, high in all GAs 49-50.

I guess maybe if he had spent the last month or so in the belief that he had just full-marked one of the hardest chem exams in the history of chem he might have been a tad disappointed, siff be depressed though
But how many people do you reckon would be like that, losing 0-3 marks?

lol and that's just one school, given that someone told me around 20 people get 50 for chem, I guess you can only afford to lose like 2 marks after all (to be on track for a 50), maybe 5 for a 47/48. Assuming similar performance in endyear. This is just conjecture though.
