Who said that?!
They do. And I know students (including one from my school) who got accepted in the second round offers.
So keep your hopes up people :D

This year there is 2nd round offers accorrding to thushan, but last year (and the year before) there wasn't. Maybe you are referring to 2nd round interview* offer?
-
No just a 2nd round offer in general, I had the 1st round interview and didn't get offered a place in the 1st round so does that mean it's a complete NO?

This year is different, so according to Thushan, you may have a small chance.

That bio course is a joke. I didn't do it because I did bio in vce but some of my friends did.
-

-
Ooo new meddies, congrats to all! If you see me in Transition come say "hi"! :)

Name is on AN if you look in the right places ;) Short Indian guy with very untidy hair and possibly a stubble.
-
Yeah ill be doing the bio course.
How intense is it? Cos i dont feel as if ive fully recovered from yr 12. Datfatcat, what do you mean by joke? Easy or very little to do?
-
Me too :) CSP Bonded though
Thank you second round offers!
-
Did that really happen?? Wow. Did you get normal place or ERC? Which one was higher on your preference list?
I'm not doing med lol - just asking for friends who accepted places to ERC but they're away camping now.

I got a bonded place in first round offers, then an unbonded (not ERC) in second round offers.

I'm two thirds of the way done and I'm considering just leaving it at that and starting on anatomy. Do you think that will be a disadvantage? (The lecturer told us that only 30% finished the course last year)

What anatomy are you starting on? You only start MSK anatomy in Sem 2 (in which case I recommend using Thieme's).
If you shoot me a PM with your email address I may be able to organise some textbooks for you (and others?) :)

Yeah that will help, also get Talley and O'Connor. Those two are real gems for med (the latter being one you will use as a reference for a long time).
-
so is the bio course useless? i've missed like a week or two of it... so very far behind! can i just pick up all the stuff during the course, or should i put my head down and start learning some of it?

It will help for first sem, but in the larger scheme of things first sem of first year is fairly insignificant. Biochem rarely comes up in the VIA (1 - end of II that covers years I+II material; 2 - end of IV that covers years I+II+III+IV material [it sounds like a bitch because it is]) so it's not a big deal.

:O Don't buy from the bookstore haha, it's a massive rip-off!
I go to bookdepository.co.uk usually as it's fairly cheap with free shipping to anywhere which is a massive plus, or if you have a relative going to asia (india, china, etc.) get them to buy the international editions of the textbooks (which are the same with lower quality covers) and they're super cheap too.
