Title: Timetable and enrolment
Post by: Highacheiver on February 04, 2014, 01:13:26 pm
Hey guys!
Im a little bit confused with the whole enrolment and timetabling... Im doing first year commerce this year and i have a couple of questions, any help would be appreciated!

1. Can i enrol in some subjects ie. Introductory Macro, Intro Micro and Quantitative Methods first, finish those enrolments and then come back and enrol in other subjects later?

2. This is going to sound really stupid but is there a limit on how many subjects can you do in semester one and how many in semester 2?

1. I don't see why not. I'm assuming you're not sure on your last subject. You gotta enrol in everything before semester starts anyway, you can enrol in some subjects only and leave it half done to come back to do it later

2. Usually 4 subjects each semester, although it is possible for you to do this thing called overloading, which means doing 5 subjects in one semester and 3 in the other semester. This requires some kind of applications and a grade average high enough (70+ i think) to prove that you can handle the stress of 5 subjects in one semester, which probably means 20 hours of uni a week for commerce. People I know who have done it don't really recommend it that much, but this depends on the difficulties of the subjects you choose and whether they are avaliable only for certain semesters.

you cannot overload in your first year, so the maximum number of subjects you can take is 4. you can choose to do less than that if you want. if you only do one or two subjects,it's considered a part time study load rather than a full time one though.
