Title: Low ranking in class can i still get my 60 atar
Post by: Franky3121 on May 25, 2014, 11:35:41 pm
I'm low in all my classes, things are getting harder and harder

If i put in the work now can i get my 60+ atar?

I do Studio Art, Visscom, English, Further Maths, and Accounting

My school was also ranked 376th last year and best was 207th couple years back. Only a handful received an atar over 90, 40% got over 60, and the rest didn't do so well.

Do i still have a chance? What can i do?

for studio art and viscomm, work really hard on your folio and get a good exam
for english just start studying, get some help here on atarnotes, write practice essays and try to do a good exam and do well on the sacs
for further - further isnt too hard to study for. just try and do well in it, it doesnt take as much effort as other subjects, and it definitely isnt too late !
accounting im not too sure sorry

i just want to stress something to you - it is definitely 100% not too late, do what i said and just start studying from today and you can get well over 60

best of luck

It's definitely not too late. I'd take a step back to look at your current lifestyle and how much work you're putting in to school, it's worth it. Even now, when my marks have improved a lot for year 12, I access myself and ask myself how I can improve.

Trust me when I say that it's not good to cut out your relaxation and fun times; they're just as important to your performance as studying/working on folios. Create a timetable and put in the stuff in your life that you don't want to miss (ie, your job, sport practise, etc). Then plan your study around those times.

You've said that it's getting harder. I've found that too, and it helps to distance yourself from all the people who are freaking out before SACs. Often, they're a distraction. I know it's nice to know that you're not alone in feeling worried, but ultimately, it just makes you worry more instead of doing something to make yourself feel more prepared (I learned my lesson from psychology last year).

So ultimately; yes, you still have a chance. Exams aren't for a while and we're only midway through the year. Do your best from now and you'll see the results :)
