Hi guys/gals/bots!
I saw a few Year 8's on this forum and thought that I could join this party (will there be cordial?) :D Basically I'm sitting the Geelong Grammar entrance exam next year for Grade 5 entry, I'm currently in Year 3. Linky: http://www.ggs.vic.edu.au/School/Admissions/Scholarships
Wondering if anyone has any tips? I am currently working through Maths Quest 7 and reading the Harry Potter and Eragon series. I think the exam has an essay part, wondering if it's ok to write a fiction piece? I have read through some of the essays on here in this thread English Work Examples Directory and I'm really worried I won't be up to the standard set there :/ Is this a problem?
I'd really like to go to Geelong Grammar as I have heard they have horses and nice playgrounds, and I think some of the Royal Family (long live the Queen!) went there too? Prestige plays a big role for my family 8)
A reply in the next 30 minutes would be good as my parents don't like me staying up past 9.30pm, otherwise I may have a chance to revisit this thread tomorrow (although I am sleeping over at a friend's house to play FIFA so not too sure!).
Nice meeting you all :)

Well, if you at a Year 7 standard for maths and can write as well as you are doing now on the test, I can safely say that you will smash it :P. Good luck - And wow... You are seriously dedicated :)

I'm debating whether this is serious or not.......

I'm only replying to this because I am bored and to provide a serious answer in case the 1 in 1000 chance of this being legit comes through.

not at all
just finish mathquest seven, and then look around online for practice entrance exams for grade 5 level. you dont need to have essays at that level cos thats year 12 so you should be a long way off but that is fine. just write what you know and you will be okay.
just dont stress :P

It checks out. Year 3 kids are all about the cordial, playgrounds and horses.

Um wow... when i was in year 3, i didn't even know what the internet was plus i couldn't have written half the things you just wrote there. You seem pretty set for the exam lol

I think I laughed a little harder than I should have.

"Looking for VCE prac exams! Early prep is never bad prep! Be friendly :)"
Year 3 -> year 7 maths book -> practice vce exams -> "I have read through some of the essays on here in this thread English Work Examples Directory....I won't be up to the standard" surly this has to be a null set haha.

Cambridge Primary? This kid must have an IQ of 138. I bet he ends up in medicine/MHS.

It's no Oxford Primary though. You need to speak fluent Latin to be able to go there.
