BUT HOLY SHIT, I PASSED PHYSICS AND NEARLY GOT A DISTINCTION. THAT THERE BE SOME SERIOUS MAGIC, I DON'T EVEN CARE THAT IT'S 1% OFF, HAHAH THIS IS AMAZING. :')

EDIT: nekminnit, someone posts before me. There goes my whole macho act. :P

2014   FIT1029   1   ALGORITHMIC PROBLEM SOLVING                     1   6   56   P
2014   FIT1040   1   PROGRAMMING FUNDAMENTALS                        1   6   64   C
2014   MTH1020   1   ANALYSIS OF CHANGE                                    1   6   59   P

Overall, disappointed ):
- for Geo I had scored a solid 94% during inhouse assessments (50%) so I must have really stuffed up the exam?
- Programming Fundamentals smashed the exam and the course was really easy so I think I got complacent and missed a few deadlines.
- Algorithmic Problem Solving, not a care in the world, I didn't find this unit useful/interesting/approachable in anyway.
- Analysis of Change, pretty surprised with this mark (also found out I got 100% on the last assignment!) so I'm pretty stoked haha.
Although I'm a little sad that my scores weren't higher (was expecting about +10 for the first three.) it's not the end of the world. As I'm trying to get into the IBL program for CompSci I think the take home message is that I should not get use to complacency, organise my time better and be more prepared for the exam.

2014   BMS2021   2   BIOCHEMISTRY OF HUMAN FUNCTION   1   6   64   C
2014   DEV2011   2   EARLY HUMAN DEVELOPMENT FROM CELLS TO TISSUES   1   6   76   D
2014   SCI2015   2   SCIENTIFIC PRACTICE AND COMMUNICATION (ADVANCED)   1   6   86   HD

Rather stoked, all in all! Although it might be my lowest score, BMS2021 is the result I'm happiest about because that unit was a killer. Still can't believe they made us write 5 essays in 3 hours -_-

Also extremely happy about BMS2011 (my first HD in a biomed unit wooooooooooooooooooo) and SCI2015 (my highest unit score yet, and my score means that I got 100% on the exam :D )

Slightest bit disappointed in the DEV2011 score, but it's respectable nonetheless, I love the course material and I look forward to bettering it in DEV2022!

Huge congratulations to everyone! If you're happy with how you've done, well done and see if you can keep up that effort next semester; if you're not happy with how you went, use those feelings and get yourself motivated to do better - look at what could have been improved upon and try to make it work in the coming semester :)

Have you considered asking to see your exam transcript? If there is such a huge gap between what you reasonably expected and what you actually got, there's a chance there was some error during marking...

Yep, that's the plan. I'm kind of hoping someone else asks on Moodle though, I could see her being pretty mean-sarcastic haha. If no-one asks by tomorrow I'll shoot her an e-mail.

Disappointed with the stats/accounting marks because I clearly made some silly mistakes on the end of semester exams. Pretty happy with the maths mark, could have been higher if Simon hadn't ruined me with that ridiculous integration question at the end of the final exam.

noice mth1035 score, funny to think I spent an entire semester with you and probably didn't even speak to you once. I've got a few more MTH subjects on the horizon, probably see you there.

The mid sem is redeemable. As your exam mark was higher than your mid-sem mark, your exam was weighted 80% and the mid-sem 0% overall (saved me too when I did it...). Congrats, fantastic marks.

Hahah, thanks, and your's was spectacular, too! You might actually know me, I'm the guy who sat in the front-middle of workshops and basically wore the same thing every day. :P Either way, still got two units next semester to actually meet, and probably a few more even after this year, hahah!

Hmm well to be specific then I have super long brown hair, always sat on the left side of the 1035 lecture theatre and was in the 9am Monday tute (and sat up the front for those). Good enough? :P

Missed your post completely, nice one!

I actually didn't turn up to many of the MTH1035 workshops (8am bleh). I was pretty good for the first few weeks, but I got lazy later on. I missed like 3 in a row towards the end and then one morning I finally made myself harden up and Simon didn't even show. I was so pissed.

2014   ATS1041   1   WORLD RELIGIONS   1   6   75   D
2014   PHY2011   2   NEUROSCIENCE OF SENSORY AND CONTROL SYSTEMS IN THE BODY   1   6   89   HD
2014   SCI1020   1   INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICAL REASONING   1   6   64   C

Overall, it averages out to being alright (ripping off Kanon's style here). These three come to 76% average which i guess is nothing to complain about, especially given my past results.

- I was expecting to score highly in PHY2011, due to some very very hard work (and more than a smattering of luck) during semester, i had ~68 before going into the exam (~25-30%, cant remember). So, if it was a total shock i'd be thrilled but since i knew it was coming, i ruined it for myself :(.
- World religions i expected closer to 80 but this isn't so disappointing given my in-semester marks. I think i got about ~65-68% on the exam, which isn't bad by any measure but i thought i did better than that.
- SCI1020, i'm horrible at math, i dislike it, it causes me physical pain. That said, i found this unit fairly "easy", especially in terms of work put in vs results out, i honestly neglected this one the most. I got 30 for in-semester (out of 40). So this must mean i got 34 (out of 60) for the exam. That's only 56%. I know math isn't my strong suit and i know i intensely crammed it in the week before (for the first time learning most of it) but i felt really good coming out of that exam, i even pointed out to people how easy the unit was. It put a bit of a damper on it.

The thing i love the most about this is that PHY2011 is both my highest and lowest scoring unit. I had some personal things going on around the time of the unit but i didn't really apply myself much either. It was 2 years ago so its not like i remembered the content (clearly didn't learn much the first time around either). It feels really great that i pulled through all that and smashed the unit. It might also make that 32 look less bad on the transcript considering i retook it and did very well.

That's awesome, well done. Wish I could +1 this.

I have a question..so failing a unit and then getting a good mark when repeated is better than passing with a 50?

Only if your better mark is high enough to average to higher than 50, I guess. Also consider that you get no credit points for failing and retaking a unit isn't free.

Does that apply to your GPA, like would they take the higher mark (assuming you failed the previous shot) for admission into PG courses like JD, MD, Dent etc?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Have a play around with this: WAM, GPA (4.0), HWA Calculator (MONASH)

You can't "undo" a fail though, unless you've transferred out of a course and you don't it across with you, afaik.

Depends to which purpose as achre rightly points out.

To employees? No idea. It might look better to show that you do indeed have the capability and were just having some issues the first time you took it (or it might not, i have no idea).

Money wise, you still have to pay for it even if you pass (not a huge deal i guess). GPA/WAM wise, what achre says is also correct, if it averages out to higher than 50 with your second attempt, it is good.

Also, if you fail, you get the credit points returned to you. It's good or bad based on perspective. Maybe that area of study just wasn't for you and thats why you failed. You can now use those credit points to do another subject and excel in it.

Regarding undoing things, it depends.

Few ways you could achieve that. I believe for Med admissions, they only look at your last three years (full time equivalent i think) of study. So, if you add on an extra diploma or do honours, it kind of would "undo" your first year results. If you do both those things (diploma and honours) it'll probably "undo" your first two years depending when you add the diploma and the structure of your degree.

As Achre also points out, if you transfer, you can *choose* which units you take with you, which units you want to claim credit for. So, in theory you could leave your lowest units off that transfer form but say you leave 4-5 off, that means you have 4-5 extra units to do. I am not sure but if you're transferring internally (within the same uni), i dont know if its ever totally obliterated from your transcript. It still might show your old degree units even if you transfer out of them and later don't credit them. If you transfer to a new uni, they'll be totally wiped but people might also asked to see your old transcript.

Does Monash BusEco faculty have any form of recognition for those students who graduate top of their respective classes? i.e. Dean's list, etc

Yes, dean's list for top BComm grad and top BComm (honours) grad, individual unit prizes (corp fi and adv corp fi for finance, the rest are mainly accounting etc), and heaps of other prizes for different courses with BusEco as the managing faculty, ceremony is usually in May/June each year. There's also the university medal for the top buseco kid.
