Hi everyone,
I'm currently in the planning stage of my imaginative writing SAC for Kennedy's Dark Roots.
I conferenced with my teacher today and he said that my idea was really good and that I had enough to flesh out my story. So I feel as though I'm on the right track with developing this idea to begin writing. But I was just wondering how you know when you've finished planning? Is it when you can't think of another to research and plan, or should I try to start writing my piece with the planning I have and see if I then feel like I need to go back and plan more?

From what you've said it sounds like you've done quite a bit of planning already with a structure and key ideas. If I were you I'd bite the bullet and just start writing and see what happens. You'll get a better feel for what glaring bits are missing out of your plan and need to be fleshed out more by about a quarter to half way through your piece (at least I did haha).
I finish planning as soon as I have a basic plot in mind and know what style and structure I'm going with.
For the creative SAC with the plan I'd just ensure that you have the links between your piece and the piece you are drawing from clear and written down - for me that's as important as the plan of the plot itself.
