Hi all. I was just going through my VTAC preferences and looking at the requirements for Arts/Law at monash. It says a personal statement is not required however it says for some yr 12 applicants it is required.
Should I fill one out or not? Or do I know if I fall into the "some" group which should fill it out?
This is where it says some yr 12 applicants http://www.vtac.edu.au/CourseSearch/searchguide.htm?courseCode=2800328383

Law (Honours) is the new law degree that is being introduced by Monash next year, so you're not going to get any anecdotal advice :P
However, looking at that link:
Selection requirements:
VTAC Personal Statement ( Y12-Some, NY12-All ) : Current year 12 students are not required to complete this form. All other applicants must complete the VTAC Personal Statement.
This seems to suggest the Personal Statement is only required for mature age / non-school leaver applicants.
If I were you I would contact Monash and/or VTAC to confirm though.

According to VTAC, CY12 students are students completing year 12 in the year they're applying to Monash, and NY12 is everybody else. There's no third option. It's weird that Monash would say that the PI form is required for some CY12 and then later say that it is not required for any CY12.
I think it's probably a mistake on the part of the person who wrote the copy for that page. Definitely contact Monash Law and ask (and also let them know their VTAC page needs fixing).
