Just wondering how everyone went... Don't feel pressured to post your results, but if you want you can.
I got an A :), so far highest at my school for psych, just hoping the girl that is away today who has a chance of an A+, doesn't actually get an A+. lol :)
Aimee :) (yes, i <3 smilie faces lol.)
-
A+ for me :)
-
A+ :D
I called up VCAA to ask about the grading ranges and they said that 158-180 was A+ (That being two people mark the exam and they marks are added together to get this).
-
I'll be honest, and post from the lower level.
C+
Was expecting much better, but there is nothing I can do now except sob, frown, and get my study on =[
-
A+ =D
-
Wow great results everyone!
-
wow yay! everyone here is so smart!!! well done guys... and dior, your exactly right, you'll do loads better at the end of the year cos you've got the right mind set now, you just needed a little bit of a push. lol :)
-
congrats to everyone
-
A+ for me
-
I got an A+, but is that scaled?
I mean, could 90% of the state have gotten an A+ as well or is the result I received after they've adjusted for that.
-
A+ for me! :)
Was not expecting it!

im pretty sure its raw, lol n i doubt 90 percent of the state got a plus let a b alone

Yeah I was exaggerating but you know what I mean haha.

^^^
lol is this hussey?
-
you guys have to realise that only the people who do well post their scores.
the majority of people in my cohort did not receive A+s.
Just because 7-8 of us come along and say we've gotten an A+, doesn't mean 90% of students did!
-
^^^
lol is this hussey?
Yes I am. PM me or you'll undermine this thread!
-
are the grade distributions out?
This is what I was trying to ask before!
-
Only a certain percent of people get an A+ (and every other mark for that matter).
Should be around 10-11% APROX

yeh lol forgot haha

is it always like that though?

FML .
B
T_T
still get a 40? if i rip everything now til then?
-
FML .
ok. where and when?
-
B+ for me highest in my psych class lol
-
B+ for me highest in my psych class lol
that is still a good mark, how did everyone else go thn?
-
are the grade distributions out?
This is what I was trying to ask before!
It's 158-180 A+
148-157 A
Based on the cross marking being added together.
So basically 79/90 was A+
-
I got an A which I am really happy with. I'm in Yr 11 so I have no idea about whether you get a numerical score.

112 SPringvale Road, SPringvale. NOW .
-
I got an A and I'm in year 11 so I'm stoked. :) Dunno how everyone else in my class went yet.
-
C+ i dont even know how i did that crap.
does that ruin my chance of getting 34ish study score? fml :-\
-
what was it last yr? 81?
I'm not sure about last year, but if it's any help-- 2007 it was 157-180. So pretty similar to this year.
-
My school post out results so I don't get it until Wednesday :(
Wondering if an A instead of A+ would blow chances of a 40??

It is possible that you could get a 40, but you'd need a very strong performance on your SACs and end of year exam.

percentage wise, how much do you mean by "strong" for sacs?
-
I really want more than just a letter grade, i have no idea where this places me

The range for A+ in the 2009 exam was 158-180. That means that those who got exams got on the average scores of 2 markers 79 - 100%. If you really want a score >40 though, you'd have to aim at the upper end of those scores.
-
wow thanks, thats so helpful.... not trying to be sexist but does anyone notice a trend with the ratio of girls to guys after a C+...? the girls are less til C+ then theres more of them for the B-A+ marks lol.. hehe :)

You've been doing research methods, haven't you :P lol
Well, I suppose that could be explained by the fact there are significantly more girls than boys doing VCE Psychology (4422 males to 11573 females)
-
haha yeah i suppose :P. Yeah supposed to have Research Methods SAC ERA on Wednesday but my teacher was away today and she was supposed to check our practice intros n stuff... so hopefully it will be pushed back until friday because i dont have psych on thursdays :D then next week around wednesday we have our Memory SAC lol.
-
hey guys
A is sacs
and two B+ for both exams.
what SS?
-
C+ i dont even know how i did that crap.
does that ruin my chance of getting 34ish study score? fml :-\
Considering the Semester 1 exam makes up like 34% of your total marks for the year it will make it hard. But if you get really good marks in pretty much everything else it shouldn't be out of the question
At least that's my understanding.
-
I got a 31 for bio last year with a C+, B+ and a B so you might be able too, except they are different subjects lol. :)
-
I was really disappointed with my mark with psych, I honestly do not know what went wrong.
I am averaging A for all my school SACs, which are moderately difficult, and only managed to achieve a B for my exam.
I will be the 1000th person to ask, but what do you think I can get for my study score with
A average for SACs, at a very strong school, B for midyear, and A for end of year.
Hoping for 35+, time to get my study on :)

If you get an A+ in your next exam I'm sure a score of 30ish is possible

what do you think you need for 45+ i am hoping i was in the higher range of the mid year A+'s but there is no way to know is there?
-
mmm i want to get an A+ on my next Psych exam so i need to gte re motivated.... lol ugh.
-
you are all show offs.

you are all show offs.
You are epic lol.

You would need very good SAC results and a A+ (mid to high) on both of the exams.
Apparently there's a way to pay to see your exam paper for this mid year? Does anyone know about this?
-
statement of results is that what u are referring to?
-

na, apparently theres a way to get your actual paper back to see exactly what you got.

yeah, you can get your VCE coordinator to have them bring it in for about ~15minutes to go through it with you. ask them about it.
-
i got an A :)
-
I got an A too, reli happy with that considering i believed that i struggled with visual perception... lol, I was told that SAC scores don't impact much on you study score over all? is true or only partly?
-

well from what ive been told they make up like 33% of it
-
yeah this is what i found when i looked it up:
School-assessed coursework for Unit 3 contributes 17 per cent to the study score.
School-assessed coursework for Unit 4 contributes 17 per cent to the study score.
And it also said that our mid year and end of year exams contribute 33 per cent each to our study score.
so thats 100% :). thats how much they contribute. so your SAC marks for each unit are added together to give you a mark out of 100 per semester and then they mix it in somehow withn you exam marks. lol :)
-
B+ for me highest in my psych class lol
that is still a good mark, how did everyone else go thn?
second highest mark was a C, not the brightest school going around lol
-
i was the highest in mine with an A, next was 2 B+'s then a B, a C and the all D-E's... rofl
-

A+ is actually 87% to 100% (158/180 = 87%), just to clear that up.
And definitely aim at the upper end of this range if you would like a 40 study score. :)
-
so does that mean with an average of like 92% for SACs and then two high(ish) A's for the exams, i could get over 40?!? :)lol.

I have to tend to disagree with you. I have clearly spoken this over with my teacher.
I think like 11-12% of students get a study score of 40+ for each subject. For this exam 9% of the students got an A+ or above.
So even if you get 2 Low A+s, and good SAC marks, you will definately get 40.
Getting 45 and above then entails getting High A+s.
-

I think if your two A's were very high (almost an A+) and you got top SAC marks you could definately get close to 40. But 40+ wouldn't be possible unless you got Two A+s I would say.,

Top 9% get 40+ (Source), and I know people with A+ for all 3 GAs who received raw study scores of 38.
A A+ A+ is usually falls between 36 & 40 though, depending on the raw marks.
But 40+ wouldn't be possible unless you got Two A+s I would say.,
I also know of an A A A+ 40 :P But that is definitely the exception as opposed to the rule.
-
I know a girl who got B+ for midyears and got a 40 at the end of the year. A low A+ should be able to get you above 40 for Psych. I had a high A+ on end of years, a mid-high A+ on end of years and got 50.

I would think so if your SAC marks are very good.

how did she manage to get 40 ?
-
I reckon definitely with two mid A+s you can get above 45.
I think she may have got a high A+ or mid one on the unit 4 paper.
Thanks guys :)
-
hmmph. really. damn that puts my hope up a bit
EXAM 1 : B
EXAM 2: HIGH A+ .
SACS: A.
40?
-

i.m.o no, around 37-38 ish

Would getting around 165~170/180 for the exam (that being 158/180 is A+) make it possible to get 45? Assuming the results are the same for the end years.
-
I don't think it would be possible to get 45, because one of my friends had a 167 on midyears and got low 40s. So not too sure.
-
A+, which I guess is pretty cool. Now to try and back it up :P

Yes, I acknowledge I wasn't specific. I understand what you're saying.
I'm just saying it's best to aim high for the best results you can achieve, that's all. :)

Oh okay, maybe she got a low end year result or didn't do well in SACS?
i would like to think that getting mid A+'s and high SAC results would result towards the mid 40's :(
-
That's seems very likely
-
Hmm I suppose you could try for a 45 with good SACs like rank 1 or 2? Not sure about her end of year result actually.
-

There's like 60 people at my school doing it, and a couple of people getting like 100's every SAC so unlikely >_> but i'll try my best. Hopefully i can get maybe 43'ish then? But thanks:)
-
apparently psychology scales down 9 if you get 30 or below, thats what vcaa said to me

Much less last year it only scaled down 2 from 30
Scaling report 2008:
http://www.vtac.edu.au/pdf/scaling_report.pdf
Here is the scaling from last year for Psychology.
Raw | 20 | 25 | 30 | 35 | 40 | 45 |
Scaled | 17 | 22 | 28 | 33 | 39 | 45 |
and of course 50 is 50

usually for psych three plusses equate to 42 minimum.
with two a's u can still get 40
its happened often in the past :) you have a chance saraime

My friend got two As and got 40 raw. I don't think you could get any higher than that though.
-
im happy with my A =P
-
applied for my statement couple days ago...two of my friends got 87/90 and 88.5/90...FML
-
A+ - 92% of questions correct. :D
