I was just wondering if anyone knows if there was a way to try and calculate what ATAR I could be headed towards next year by using my unit 1/2 SAC marks/mid year exam results/end of year exam results/overall percentage results/etc???
-
Don't even try predicting your atar based off 1/2 subjects.
-
Ok, thanks. I was just wondering if there was some kind of way to do it, because apparently at the end of yr 11 some schools give their students a predicted atar

Unit 1/2 is all internal assessments, whereas unit 3/4 is all external assessments (the internal SAC's you do get scaled externally), which makes it practically impossible to predict your ATAR based off your unit 1/2 assessments.
The best you could do would be to find a year 12 student at your school who is getting / used to get exactly the same marks you got in the same subjects, then see what their ATAR is. Though I can't guarantee that such a person exists. And even then, this assumes that your scores and their scores are consistent from year 11 to year 12, which is a very big assumption.

I've never known any school to do this... I know that some teachers will give you a predicted study score for a particular subject towards the end of unit 4 by looking at your SAC scores and your trial exam marks, but that's about as good as it gets.
-
Take the average of all of your SAC scores. Then multiply by 0. Then add 50. There, you have a possible ATAR score, with a 100% uncertainty in it.
One of my friends got a C in sem 1 GMA. He later went on to get a 99.90 ATAR and a 41 in spesh. Year 11 doesn't make your ATAR. Year 12 does.

Some 1/2 are mostly unrelated to 3/4. (I'm looking at you Psychology)

Yeah, just wondering because my school does interviews at the end of yr 11 and apparently they predict your atar, but I don't know if its like "you could probably score around 70 or 80" or if they actually say "we predict your atar to be 88.35".

Tell your school they suck from Brenden.

Nah, my school probably already knows they suck (well they should and don't even get me started on my school). All I'm gonna say is that it's a pretty generic, below average, public school...

is it usually most schools that predict atars? Also is it a good idea to ask your unit 3/4 teachers what they predict your study score to be? im not sure how to ask? Hi Mr/Mrs ....., what do you think my study score for ..... will be? im finding that a bit too direct and not sure whether he/she would answer!
-
No way to predict it. Year 11 results don't really indicate anything.
-
no i mean, im doing 2 year 12 subjects, can i approach those teachers and ask what my study score will be around?

Ohh, yes definitely! As far as I know, teachers submit estimated study scores to VCAA.
