Hey,
As you all know, Methods is finally over! Now I was just wondering if you guys could tell me what the chances are of me getting a study score of over 25..
I averaged a low A in SACs, but I screwed up Exam One. The anxiety destroyed me and I think it might come out to around 40%. But, I felt pretty confident in Exam Two. I'm predicting perhaps over 70%..
I don't know how important it is but my class is probably mid range in terms of ability.. There's no Einsteins but everyone is pretty competent.
So, what do you guys who actually understand the system think? Could I get a study score over 25?
Thanks!!
-
Yeh mate, no need to worry. You will be looking forward to seeing at least a 33 SS, possibly 35. Well done
-
What study score would i be looking at with
Sacs:88/100
Exam 1: 29-32
Exam 2: 57-63
Cheers

Most likely a 36-37. well done.

Hi guys, is there any chance of i can get a 40?
GA1 - No idea scaled mark - around 75% very strong cohort - our school is top 5 in state
GA2 - 37/40
GA3 - 63/80 - stuffed this one up :(
Thanks appreciate the help
-
Do you think a 35 would be possible for me?
Moderate-strong cohort
SACs: 71/100
Exam 1: 30/40
Exam 2: 69/80
Thank you! :)

Exam 1 is like a mid B+, Exam 2- high A
If you Sacs scale up, then, I think you have a very good shot of getting 35+.
Probably 36-37 given Exam 2 is weighted a lot more than Exam 1.

Do I have a chance of getting a 40 study score?
Sacs : 90+
Exam 1 : 33/40
Exam 2 : 68/80
Thanks in advance
-
SACs: 85% Average-Weak Cohort
Exam 1: 27-30
Exam 2: 53-58 (Bombed out badly)
Any chance of Mid 30s?
-
96/100 sac marks (rank 4) strong cohort
35/40 exam 1
72/80 exam 2
What study score am I looking at?
Thanks in advance

I'd say about 44, good job.

39, maybe 40

Unfortunately, i'll have to disagree on this one :(
I'm looking at at a 34-35/40 for E1 and 79/80 E2 with A+ SACs, however teacher says it will be very hard for me to hit 45 and will most likely be between 42-44.
So in your scenario I'd say it's more around the 40-41 mark atm

I don't understand your teachers logic. 79-80 is incredible in exam two, you should at least get 47

Not this year :(
From what I hear, almost everyone in the top 20 got 77+ for E2
47 is almost a pipe dream given that E1 is most likely an A..

I think you may be overestimating the ability of the methods cohort. Last year, apart from the last question, I would say the exam was about the same level as this year, possibly with MC this year being even harder than last. Yet, the A+ cutoff was 61.5/80 I believe... Your school must be very strong for everyone in the top 20 to get 77+, I believe my school is about the same, but not so for the general state.

I mean, i'd be considerably happier if you were correct (who wouldn't be xD), but when you're looking for a 45+ score, it's the top 2% of the state, so the cutoff for that would be substantially higher than an A+ (11% of the state).
Given that the top 2% is often separated by a careless mistake, I think that's why it's assumed that the exam didn't do too much to separate students (unlike last year where the last question was a legitimate separator).

jonosimo scored 96/100 in SACs in a strong cohort (high A+), 35/40 in Exam 1 (High A), 72/80 in Exam 2 (Mid A+)
If you get 3 low A+s you get around a 40... how on earth does getting an exceptional SAC score (34%), a mid A+ in Exam 2 (44%) and a high A in Exam 1 (only 22%), result in him only getting a 40-41... T.T
-
Sacs : Low 90s
Exam 1 : 30/40
Exam 2 : 72/80
Thanks!

Because like I said, I view the cutoff this year to be closer to 2008 (73/80) than 2013 (61.5/80).
Mid A+ (scales down with poorer exam results) + low A+ + high A is a 40-41.
Of course, I could be wrong about the cutoffs, and this is simply my opinion, but this is what I see from my currently point of view and based on educated guesses.
-
35-36
Sweet, thanks :)

Cut off wasn't 73 in 2008, that would be ridiculous. It was 67.5...although 2008 was a far bit harder than 2014 - at least the Tasmania Jones question was a little bit challenging..
-
What about...
99% SACs. Fairly weak cohort but rank 1
37/40 e1
74/80 e2
Any chance of a 42
thanks!

Hamo94 I think you got the wrong year.
In 2006 the cut-off for A+ was 72/80 which is probably the closest to what you were talking about.
2006 MM 3/4 was really easy though..

What score would I get for:
95% +SACs. Moderate-strong cohort
39/40 e1
79/80 e2
I'm still in year 11 so I'm not sure how the scoring works still. :-\
Thanks in advance! :D

~49 +- 1 based on how well the cohort in general goes on the exam

83/100 SACs
36/40 E1
70/80 E2
Strong cohort, what score do you think I will get?
Thanks in advance.

What about a 30+?
Sac's - A (no. 2 out of 4)
Exam 1 - B (prediction)
Exam 2 - C+ (prediction)
Thanks

hi i just wanted to ask if it is possible to get a 35+ in methods with the following
GA1 75/100 w/ a moderate-strong cohort
GA2 36/40
GA3 60/80 (worst possible scenario)

Yes you can get 35+ I reckon
-
Could someone predict SS:
Rank 1 in cohort.
Scenario 1:
Exam 1: 37/40
Exam 2: 68/80.
Scenario 2:
Exam 1: 40/40
Exam 2: 68/80.

SAC 54.4% Medium/Weak cohort
GA1 28/40
GA2: 54/80
Can i get a 35 raw?

with those scores on last years exam, you would be sitting on around a 35, but this years exam was relatively easier, so id have to say no, i dont think you can get a 35 raw. More looking towards the 33 mark, max 34

Rank 1. Exam 1 40/40 Exam 2 68/80.

41-42, I think, assuming SACS are moderated to similar grades

Ye i reckon, but i just don't understand the mechanics of SACs. Why is each sac we do weighted but when we "calculate" our study scores we only use an average? How does the sac mark change in terms of ranking because i just gave a raw sac mark to you.
Thanks for the help, in year 11 and i'm a bit confused.

Dont worry we were all in the same position as you once. Your sac score is simply a ranking among your cohort, you are not supposed to use your sac average to calculate your sac score, you are given a sac score for each sac, and some sacs are worth more because they constitute a bigger part of the course. This ranking is then used to determine your sac score based on your cohorts exam performance. For example, if you were to be rank 8, your sac score would actually be derived from the 8th highest exam score in your cohort. And the sac scores are far less important than the exam anyway, so i mainly predicted your score based on what you got on the exam, because i have no clue how your sacs would scale

Hello,
36/40 Exam 1
74/80 Exam 2
96/100, 4th rank, strong cohort
What study score do you think I will get?
Thanks

So if I was ranked second, but outscored the person ranked first in both exams, by 4+ on Exam 1 and 7+ on Exam 2, do I get their exam mark? Or how does this work exactly?
