Title: University extension math and actuarial studies

Hi guys
 
I just wanted to know if doing University extension math (MTH1040) at monash in year 12 contribute/help with the monash actuarial program?

I'm not too familiar with the content of MTH1040 but looking it up, it seems to be similar to MTH1030. While none of the maths in the course will be directly used in the actuarial program, it really helps to have a solid grasp of linear algebra and calculus provided by 1040/1030. I'd suggest you do either one of the two. There is room within a B.Com to get all the part one exemptions and finish a double major in finance/econometrics and do MTH1030 still, but doing 1040 and getting an extra subject by skipping 1030 for an interesting elective/more maths/work towards a different second major is definitely a good option.
