Title: Semantics ; Syntax ; Cohesion and Coherence

Hi, can someone give me some ideas to what I can discuss in an written analytical commentary for semantics, syntax and coherence/cohesion

Hey there!

I would recommend you go to the Eng Lang study design document: http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/vce/englishlanguage/englang-sd-2012.pdf

Now go to page 21-22 and see all the features under each subsystem. From here, you will find all the features of each of these subsystems.

I would look at discussing important features, not all features, that have great relevance to informality as well as the social purpose of the text (e.g. to entertain, to inform, to persuade etc). Make sure you keep your examples clear and concise.
